My problems with TECC

I have used these guys and even recommended them but I would say never ever use them!

My battery arrived on the 25th March and died a few weeks later, I ended up sending them an email on this by 27th April which bounced a few times.

Just got round to ringing them up and they wont replace it, they say on the website that the battery should last 2-3 months but that its only a 28 day gaurantee, that seems to be well under what Id say is fit for purpose and I will be sending them a letter.

For now I would recommend anyone not to use this company and find someone that has a better warranty period.

One battery just doesnt work at all anymore and the other stays on as soon as connected, I only noticed this at first when my leg got very hot!

TECC wont send me a replacement at all even if I send my broken originals for them to investigate!

Also I raised this in the TECC forum and someone from this site keeps removing it, are TECC in someway involved with this site?

It's not clear on the forum because they look like normal boards but anything under 'Supporting Suppliers' is a shopfront managed by vested interests. The rest of the forum is supposed to be independent.

Got your posting in the TECC forum before it dissappears and thank you as it really wasnt obvious to me.

Very underhand of them to just remove it, I was even slightly tempted to use them for the 510 but I will def use Janty now.

I don't like the way the shops blend in with the rest of the forum and leech credibility from it.

Smokejuice.co.uk and iVapour.co.uk are both said to be good traders and sell the 510.

I buy Janty hardware mainly because of the guarantee, it works out cheaper than constantly replacing parts.

Be warned though, the hardware will still break down and you will have to wait for postage of replacements so make sure you have spares to tide you over while waiting.

I am of the same view as Kate, if the warranty matters to you then Janty are hard to beat. That deal at smokejuice for the Dura try-me kit is outstanding.

In addtion to JantyUK ( iVapour), E-cigs.co.uk I also found Intellicig really spot on with customer service.

I havent used Smokejuice yet....but have heard nothing but good things about them.

Warranty on e-cigs parts must come at a price. Most e-cig batteries and atomisers should be regarded as semi-disposable as you really can't be sure they will last more than a few weeks. That's why many vendors (not just TECC) only offer around 30 days warranty. Also - warranty (regardless of length) rarely covers a replacement item - ie it fails once, you get another - that fails, you don't.

I'm afraid I have to admit that my experience with TW hasn't been the best of them...

I've had excellent service from E-Cigs.co.uk and can't recommend them enough. I've also had excellent service from SmokeJuice and ECig Shop (Intellicig reseller as I had rotten service from Intellicig back in Feb/March).

I haven't yet tried any of the other UK suppliers.

Everybody's experience will be different though!

Buying e-cigs just isnt like buying a TV or even a any other electrical device of similar price to an e-cig.

The product was only produced intially to give temporary assistance to those who wanted to stop smoking and a such were not intended to have constant use.

I dont think anyone expected people to actually enjoy vaping them.

This now results in few manufacturers giving guarantees, and those that do, do so with heavy restrictions as to use. For example Janty, who offer the best guarantee, state you must use their e-juice, their batteries etc etc.. which is totally understandable.

So all of us are going to have problems and all of us are going to expect our suppliers to help, especially when an item ceases to function within hours of getting it out of the box. And all of us will no doubt find that the supplier cant always do so.

We have to accept that although we do have Consumer Rights in the form of the Sale of Goods Act, stating that an item has to be fit for purpose. It would be debatable as to the 'purpose' of e-cigs in their current form.

The only company that insists on their own eliquid being used to avoid invalidating their warranty is Ruyan as far as I know.

The warranty on the Janty atomisers (not TAWA) is 6 months, if used with correct procedure - but for more precise details, please see iVapour.co.uk terms & conditions page.

And yes, using other liquids or batteries could invalidate the warranty, as we would have no idea as to the quality or efficacy of the other products being used. I could go into more details but it is kind of obvious, e.g. lets just say you used a battery that leaked, or a liquid that was impure....

Thanks Christena, I didn't know that iVapour were making that condition.

I've had this row before with Janty and they withdrew the condition from the US site.

What are they going to do if they force people to use a certain product that might turn out to cause lung disease or something? At least when we choose our own fuel we can take some of the responsibility.

I'm pretty sure that the Janty warranty terms on iVapour are from Janty rather than iVapour, Ludo is very vocal about wanting people to use genuine parts and juices. Also of course, they will want to protect themselves from people like me and my experimental instant coffee granule and honey homebrew

I returned an atomizer to iVapour and had no trouble getting a replacement, and I use ecigs juice as well as Janty.

I think the key is 'could invalidate the warranty' rather than 'will invalidate the warranty'
