I was a pack a day smoker and now I'm down to about half a pack or less a day. I don't smoke in the house or around my fiancee any more, that's where the pv comes in.

I got into vaping about a year ago and started with a puresmoke disposable which I soon found out was garbage but saw the potential of vaping.
After a good bit of reading on this forum I ended up getting a 510 kit and thought it was ok but I got a little discouraged with the lack of vapor that it produced.

My dad got into vaping around the same time and after a couple weeks he gave up his 30 year smoking habit in favor of a 510.
He bought a Fuma e-cig and got to liking it so I got one too. I later found out that it is actually an 808-d (according to the label on the charger anyway).
While the Fuma put out more vapor than the 510 it still wasn't anything like a cigarette in the way of vapor so it just wasn't as satisfying.

My dad got an Ego, then an Ego-t and loved them but I didn't want to dish out that much money on something that could be just as disappointing as the first two that I bought.
He recently bought an Ego-c and says it's the best he has had. I got one of his new batteries and have been using one of his Ego atomizers lately but have been getting that burnt taste after a couple hits (I think the wick got a dry burn or two in its life) so I'm about to order an Ego-c kit. I did find out that I have to hold down the button for a much shorter time to avoid the burnt plastic taste on the ego atomizer.

I recently ordered a Smok tech dual coil low resistance tank and just got it today. I was disappointed to learn that it won't make contact with the ego battery because it bottoms out before that but it does work with the 510 battery. I loaded it up with Jogglers Juice to test it and get good vapor but I think the juice needs to steep a little, it was born 3 days ago according to the sticker on the bottle.
I also ordered a Smok tech dual coil low resistance mega cartomizer for the Ego battery (the one that holds 5ml fluid) and that thing is awesome. Massive vapor production, soft rubber tip and clear body so you can see when it gets full. I loaded it up with 3&5 from Misty Mountain Vapor.
I ordered those two from Vaporbeast.com and I can definitely see ordering from them again. They have fast free shipping and I got a 5ml bottle of Ry4 and a drip tip as freebies.

I watched a video the other day about removing the wick in a 510 atomizer and while doing it I pinched the foil on the bridge and pulled it a bit then decided to say screw it and really pull on it since it's an old one. I pulled the guts almost all the way out and got the bridge out (before learning how to do it without damage) and pushed it back down to see if it still worked. It did. I tried dripping and it seemed about the same as before. That is until I blew through it anyway. I cleared it out and couldn't believe the plume of vapor that came out of me on that first hit. So I tried a handful of my new juices and while I get massive vapor off them (70/30 blend of pg/vg) they all taste about the same so I'm thinking of getting a new low resistance 510 atomizer and debridging it to use just as a dripper since it will have a bare coil and will have the wick pulled out before it has a chance to singe to the coil.

As far as juices go. I use Misty Mountain vapors 3&5 and Mocha coffee and VooDoo from Freedomsmokeusa regularly.
I got a few from Jogglers Juice the other day and a handful of samples from Freedomsmoke usa just trying to find that perfect juice for me but they're all pretty young along with my 510 atomizer being tainted with old juice and worn out heating elements.

From what I have read, I need to order Copper Creek house blend, Bobas Bounty and Bounty Hunter. Are there any other must have juices out there? I'm not really into menthol, apple, cherry or watermelon.

I'm about to order an Ego-c kit, A low resistance 510 atomizer and a 5 pack of 808-d blank cartomizers (in the hopes that they're the right ones for my Fuma).

I feel like I'm rambling so I'm going to wrap this up.
If you can think of any tips and tricks or juice/accessory suggestions I would be happy to hear them.

For the tank you can lift the battery post on the ego or the center of the cartomizer a little bit with a dental pick or similar so it will make contact. occasionally, you will find an ego mega dual coil carto that needs the same thing done. When you lift the battery post or carto center, it's just a tiny bit... don't get over zealous.. it's just the slightest amount that's usually necessary.

Congrats on your quest to quit cigs. I was a PAD smoker myself for 20 years. Vaping has a big learning curve if you don't have the proper instructions and information. So, you came to the right place for that and hope you learn a lot from your time here.

As for your Dual Coil tank. If you look at the bottom of the cartomizer. You will see a slot that is perfect for a small flat head screwdriver. You can screw it counter clockwise. Which will both loosen the air flow and bring out the center pin. That will help with the connection issue your having. Some others use a paper clip and gently pull the pin outwards. DO NOT use a DCC on a regular 510 battery. Since it will kill it and those batts aren't made to handle the power draw that the DCC needs to work.

As for your atomizer. You really don't need to de-bridge it. It works great after you just take the wick out. Which retains most of the burnt flavor of the atomizer. A good trick to start using an atomizer is to prime it. Which is a very simple process. All you need to do is drip 6 drops into it and let it sit for 10 minutes. This will saturate the mess and coil so that you won't get that burnt flavor. After you prime it then all you need to do is drip 3 drops with every 5 hits. But, make sure you give your atomizer a few minutes rest for the coil to cool down. If you add juice to quickly then you risk blowing the coils. That will mean the end of your atomizer.

I won't give recommendations for juice to try since everyone has different tastes. But, it's a good idea to start with small 3-5ml bottles to give yourself a chance to see what you like first before ordering more. Might be a good idea to get a few different strengths of nic as well. Such as 24mg and 18mg to start off since your a PAD smoker. Also, try different PG/VG mixes like 80/20 or 70/30 as well as 100% of either PG or VG. To see if your allergic to either one.

If you want to use 808 cartos with your Ego batt then you need a 510-808/901 adapter.

Hope that helps.

Don't turn it very far if you choose to do that. The wire loop is soldered to the other side. If you turn that more than a little bit, you can cause the wire loop to touch itself and short.

I looked at the screwdriver slot and the thought of turning it crossed my mind but I didn't know if I could potentially break the contacts by doing so. Six confirmed my concern.
I'm just going to pry it a little bit.
FSUSA has 2.5ml bottles that are 50/50 pg/vg and that's about the size I tend to get first. I would hate to have 10/30/60 ml of nasty juice. I've been getting 20-24 mg nicotine in my juices.
I read the bit about not using the DCC on a 510 battery either in another thread or on the site I ordered it from and I'm loving the performance on the ego-c battery.
The dual coil tank says its for a 510 and I'm using it on my 510 extended battery for now (until I fix the battery contact issue).
The 808 cartomizers are for my Fuma battery because they look like the right ones and the charger for it says 808-d on it. If they're not right then I'll call it a $6 lesson.

I just ordered an Ego-c kit, 5 pack of 808 cartomizers, Dual Coil Heavy Vapor (DCHV) eGo compatible mega cartomizers and a low resistance 510 atomizer from vaporkings.com. Now I get to play the waiting game, yay...

I was going to debridge the new 510 atomizer but now I know that just yanking the wick out is just as good. Thanks for the info.

...have you ever disassembled one...I have and there are no THREADS...that pin is just press fitted into a silicone washer and turning it more than a teeny tinny bit will break the wire at best, cause a short at worst...BAD ADVICE...that slot is for air flow and nothing else...you can however, use a paper clip or anything else that will work and gently pull that pin out a smidgeon(tech term for a little bit) to get better contact with the corresponding batt pin...

You are WRONG. I've done this many times and you can turn it a few times to bring out the pin. Which is the reason why you get more air flow. You have to turn it once at a time to bring the pin slightly out. And yes, if your not careful then you can break the washer but, that takes quite a few turns.

I didn't say you couldn't turn it, I just said it wasn't threaded and it is not meant to be turned...doing so is a BAD IDEA and saying to do so is BAD ADVICE...as always, ya payz your money and ya takz your chances...YMMV and Caveat Emptor...at least my advice will not cause a mod to blow up in your face......

So dedicate the LR atty to the Ego battery, gotcha. I didn't expect to get replies this fast. This forum has to be the most active one that I've been on, this place is alright.

I have hit my dads Ego-c a few times and like it but after using the DCC for a few hours last night I think i'm going to be splitting my vaping between the Ego-c and DCC about 50/50.

I picked up a jewelry cleaner from Walmart today. This one Connoisseurs - Jewelry Cleaner - Sonic Jewelry Cleaner. It seems like a good one to me. I gave the 510 and Ego and Ego-T atomizers a half hour bath in Everclear earlier. After a day or two of drying I'll hit them up and see if the cleaner was a good investment.

Another thing I wanted to ask about. A friend is wanting to get into vaping. She smokes ultra light virginia slims or something like that. I was thinking about recommending the Fuma (808-D) since it has an automatic battery and uses cartomizers. When the mailman brings me my stuff I'll know for sure if it is an 808-d. If that's the case then I can recommend that one along with some 70/30 pg/vg menthol juice with 12 or 16mg nicotine. She tried my dual coil low resistance cartomizer today and mentioned that it has a pretty hard throat hit. Good for me (Marlboro Red smoker) but not so good for her (ultra-light smoker).
So would that be a good recommendation or is there a better one available? I think the 510 might be a little too high maintenance for her. And the Ego-C is a little high priced for someone just getting into it that isn't sure if they'll like it.

I got my stuff today.
I like the Ego-C. It puts out a bunch of vapor (pretty important for me) and feels pretty solid. I loaded it up with VaporBeast RY4, I'm still not sure if I like that flavor. I might empty out the tank and load it up with VooDoo from Freedomsmoke because I really like that one.
I was worried about putting the clear cartomizer in my pocket because I didn't want to bust the plastic off the metal base when I sat down or something.

I also found out that the 808-d cartomizers don't work with my Fuma battery. Good thing they were only $6. Now I might need to get a battery to go with them.

I put this in my thread in the success stories section but I think it will have more eyes on it here. I've searched for perfume and perfume taste and couldn't find my issue, hopefully someone will know what the deal is.

My bottle of 3&5 started getting that perfume taste with both cones on the Ego. I cleaned the atomizers with hot water then gave them a 1/2 hour sonic bath and tried again, still tasted like perfume. I took one apart, rinsed the coil, dry burned, rinsed again, dry burned again, rinsed the wick and gave it a kiss with a lighter and tried again, still tasted like perfume. I loaded a new atomizer and got the same thing. I hit my dual coil cartomizer and no perfume taste with the 3&5. So I was thinking "Uh oh, maybe my Ego-C has issues. I changed juices to a mocha coffee one and there is no perfume taste, hmmm.... I've used about 15ml out of a 30ml bottle of that 3&5, why would it just now taste like perfume? It is a light colored juice and I think it has a high PG percentage in it.

It's late and I have to get up for work in four hours so that one is going in the bookmarks for tomorrow night. Thanks, hopefully I can get a clue on the subject. I don't want to be stuck with crappy juice within a week of leaving cigarettes behind. Maybe they've had this taste all along and it wasn't until the second day after my last one that I started tasting it because my taste buds are recovering.
