Hello everyone! I'm not a new vaper, but I've recently had to return to it. About 4 years ago, I had a 2 PAD 8 year clove cigarette habit. After I spent a week in CICU with my blood pressure at imminent stroke levels, and in which they drained a liter of fluid from around my heart, I realized that I had to quit smoking, or I was going to die. This is a terrifying realization to come to at the age of 39.

I tried the patch. I tried lozenges. I tried hypnosis, acupuncture, reiki, and even holistic medicine and nothing helped. Then I discovered e-cigs. I was desperate, so after reading this forum, I found and ordered an inexpensive kit online. Joye I believe it was. Well, that is what worked finally! I started making my own juices, and over the course of six months, I tapered my nic level until I got to 3mg. At that point I realized that I no longer craved the nic, and decided I was done with the ecig and tossed everything in the trash. All my bats, attys, carts and juices. It all went in the bin.

I stayed smoke and nic free until 4 months ago. I had to put my very beloved dog to sleep, and a week after that, my husband landed in the hospital for a week. The stress snapped an already frayed rope and I fell off the wagon big time. It seemed that overnight, I was at 2 PAD again. My blood pressure shot up and I started having chest pain again.

Two weeks ago I told my husband I wanted to quit again, so he told me to go buy new ecig supplies. He didn't care what I spent, he just wanted me to get something I would like and be happy using. So I bought a purple ProVari mini, and I couldn't love it more! I had just bought a carton of cloves a day before I got it, so I took my time getting to know my new PV without stress. I smoked the last of that carton on Friday night. Yes, I made 10 packs of cigs last two weeks, and I was okay! I've now been smoke free for 44 hours, and I feel great :D.

I realize now that vaping is something I need to keep doing, even if I get to 0mg, and I'm okay with that.

Well, I apologize for the novel length intro, I hope it doesn't put anyone off .

Thanks for reading my ramble,

Lady Z

So glad someone with some experience posted something like this in the noob forum! Seems so many new people place so much pressure on themselves to throw away their cigs on day 1, and then fail altogether when something doesn't work just right. It doesn't have to be all or nothing. Great post!

Thanks Hops! I have talked to several smokers in the last couple weeks about e-cigs, and I told them all that you DO NOT have to quit cold turkey and go straight to vaping 100%. In fact I recommend you don't. Society along with BT and BP give us advice on quitting that almost seems engineered to cause us failure.

If any newbies are reading this, don't stress yourself. Do what feels right FOR YOU. Pressure only makes it harder!
