Yep, I've read up on ohms law. so I know how the voltage thing works, but I notice that with the thicker gauged wire at the same voltage compared to a thinner gauge it tends to run hotter, but 32gauge is just too flimsy. I prefer the 28g but didn't have it so I was trying it out with the 26g. I don't want my battery sucked dry which I know the sub ohming does. Uggh... I understand the mechanics but I just can't seem to get this to work for me. I am a wire artist so I know my coils are perfect. I've been coiling for over a decade :) I've tried spaced coils I've tried micro coils. IDK I hit my sweet spot with the IGO but I just can't seem to get it on this thing.

Question, is dual coiling suppose to improve flavor or vapor? I havent noticed much of a difference I know it gives more surface with less resistance but the flavor doesnt really seem to improve for me neither does the vapor which tells me I am missing something. Probably something so simple but I just can't seem to figure it out.

Update: I lowered the resistance as suggested so it is now at .09 ohms it is a very warm vape I feel like I am inhaling hot bath steam volts are at 4.2 is there any way to be able to use the thicker gauged wire without it getting so warm?
Dual coils can provide a denser more flavorfull vape with a tradeoff of being a hotter vape but there are somethings you can do to alleviate some of it like going to a longer driptip and going high vg , lower nic to lower TH ,increasing your airflow , lowering your wattage etc . But you will have an adjustment period regardless of these measures .

I did it! I did it! I did it!

I even lost count of my wraps and thought I might have to redo it because it was looking kinda janky, but I was able to fix it. :thumb:

My 1st ever coil build came out to 1.8 exactly! :vapor:

Mine always look like a one-armed 6 yr old made them. :D But they vape just fine, so who cares what they look like.

And, it's working perfectly too! :D

The Magma is the first RDA I've actually liked. I got a Veritas too, right after the Magma, but I'm trying to find a way to like it, a build that will make it vape in a way I enjoy. I ordered a Derringer yesterday, so I'm looking forward to playing with it, as it's also supposed to be really good for flavor.

I have done literally 100+ builds on my Magma, usually running it at .2ohms on a mech (That's 60 something watts at 3.7volts!). Only today have I come to a realization.... the best flavor to be had on the Magma can be found by building dual coils (mine being 5 wraps of 26 gauge on each side, ohmed at .32) that sit just a millimeter above the airholes! For the longest time I thought the higher up the the coils were set, the better the flavor would be. My build at .2ohms using the principal proved otherwise. Tons of vapor and heat, but the flavor was subpar. So, try placing your coils just above the airholes and see how you like it!

Your at almost 20 watts with that voltage , try backing down to 12 -15 watts , a longer driptip helps quite a bit as well .

im not sure how easy thats going to be on an istick. isticks to the best of my knowledge dont have step-down technology. the chip can step up, but not down, meaning the device "runs hot", as in the wattage is actually higher than you set it until the actual cell voltage drops to where you set it. this is the reason why i never bought one. its the same problem that the z-max of the past has suffered. nice looking device, and an inexpensive way to jump into more power from twists and the like, but ultimately it can be frustrating because achieving your set wattage isnt easy or even possible in some cases with an istick.

That's only true of the 20w -- the other iSticks do step down.

The 30 & 50 watt Isticks do step down , they will go to PWM below a certain voltage , I don't remember the point that happens at though .

If its anything like my Sigelei Mini, it automatically goes into PWM when you drop below the batteries actual voltage.
