Looking for a little help. One of my Riva batteries is feeling a bit ill and decided to throw a temper tantrum. It's been a good little soldier for the last 6 months or so but today something out of the ordinary happened. I discovered the problem when the button was lit without been pushed, so I pressed it down and it went off but wouldn't come back on again when I then pushed again. So I just put it to the side and used a different battery. Well, I noticed it blinks every so often now. I'm afraid to put it on the charger in case it shorts it out and I end up losing more than one battery. I don't believe it's a charger issue because the rest of the batteries are fine. Has anyone else had this happen? Is it safe to charge it again?

Sainted, the button hole on the eGo/Riva class batteries is not sealed, and sometimes juice gets inside the battery and that is a bad thing. If that's what's happening, your battery is most likely toast. If it's just the button sticking, and you tried to unstick it gently and it still won't cooperate, it's probably time for a new battery. Sorry.

New avatar?:)

ECF follies... We were looking for Elendil; our Elendil. He's been MIA for a month... Sorry!

6 months isn't bad service, sounds like it might be on its way out though

Not bad at all. However, I have a Riva that's over a year old and shows no signs of being on its way out.

(Famous last words? :p)

Yup!

Of course, I don't charge it every day, I have a lot batteries... But it is in rotation almost every day.

In my experience, when those batteries fail, they tend to do so early on, usually in the first two weeks or so. Once they get going, they last a long time. Very little maintenance is required, really. I just clean the threads once in a while with a little alcohol.

But I'm also very careful: I check the resistance of my atties occasionally to make sure it doesn't go too low, like close to 1.0Ω. And I make sure that no ejuice ever gets into that button hole that is not sealed.

Happy vaping!

Sorry I haven't posted on this thread....

Well, I have always loved my rivas more than my egos, but I must confess I do think the eGo's are a bit more sturdy now and I may be rethinking that. The eGo I dropped at the beginning outside at the beginning of winter and didn't find until the next thaw is still going strong. However, the riva that was having problems did come back to life. I think I may have gotten it wet and it dried out after a few days. Either way, they both are good starters.

For anyone that has a similar problem where the riva button just keeps blinking on and off every few minutes but won't fire and appears to have died, I would just let it set for a few days and then try it again. Especially if it has been exposed to the elements :).
