First I have to say FINALLY A PRODUCT THAT WORKS PERFECTLY OUT OF THE BOX WITHOUT HAVING TO DO SOMETHING TO GET IT TO WORK!!!!
I got my Saphires this morning as the mail was delivered early today just in time before I had to leave for work.
Filling: 10/10: I removed the fill hole plug and I placed the condom fill thing over my juice bottle cap and filled both BUDS up to the top. No mess, no syringes super easy. I left the fill condom on my juice bottle and was able to put the bottle cap on without a problem so I won't loose it. The BUD can be filled without it as the fill hole is big enough at least with the bottles I am using. Those people that have bottles that have a very narrow cap won't even need to use the fill condom at all.
vaping: 9/10: I do suggest that you allow the juice to soak into the atomizer before vaping. I couldn't wait so I set my Darwin to 4.5 W and vaped. I got vapor on the 1st draw but could tell the atomizer was a little dry. After several slow drags the atomizer started to be wicked properly. If you have a device like the Darwin or Vari you will be able to fine tune the watts/volts to get a perfect vape. I am using 40% VG 60% PG mix. I suspect that a 20% VG/80% PG mix will allow higher Watts/Volts settings because the juice is thinner and will wick faster to keep up with the demands of higher watts/volts. I have NOT had any dry vapes even while chain vaping on my way to work. I actually got a slight nic buzz so I had to take a break for a bit. The BUD is perfect for those of you that chain vape.
Construction: 10/10: The plastic is very good quality and I don't think cracking will ever be a problem with these. The mouth piece fits in very snuggly and is very comfortable. I have not had any leaks yet and not even seeing the condensation or juice that I saw with the CE-2 and all the cartos I have tried where the atomizer screws into the device. Condensation does form in the air supply on the BUD but it has not accumulated enough where it is drawn through the mouth piece. Also had not had any juice in the mouth either. The air supply holes are a bit different than all the 510 cartos and atttys I have tried. Not screwing in the BUD to your device very tightly will help ensure max air flow. I typically use the 510-510 adapter on my Darwin but with the BUD it works better by just screwing it into the Darwin without it. I removed the stickers from both of mine. I really don't think a sticker is even necessary as the BUD looks really cool without it.
Flavor: 8/10: (CE-2 and dual coils 10/10): The flavor is not as strong as with the CE-2 but the taste is very clean. No primer or burning wick taste at all. When I set the Darwin up to 7.5 Watts I got a slightly dry/less flavor taste. Since I just got the Buds today I suspect that the flavor will become even stronger after the attys break in.
Vapor: 8/10: These produce a good amt of vapor. I suspect that an 20% VG/80% PG mix juice will produce more vapor as the juice is thinner and will likely keep the atty a bit wetter. I actually get better vapor and flavor with the Darwin set at 6.5 W than 7 W with my 40% VG/60% PG juice. I will make up a bottle of 20%/80% tonight and test that. The vapor is not super hot but not cold either
Throat Hit: 7/10: I suspect this will vary with the nic level and VG/PG ratio. For my 60/40 mix I get as much throat hit as I got with the CE-2s but not as much as the dual coils at 5-6V deliver.
Overall: I highly recommend the BUDs. They work great and are very reasonably priced. If a smoker that was interested in switching to vaping came to me and asked what to buy I would recommend the BUD to them over any carto or atty I have tried with a standard 3.7 device. I wish the BUD existed back when I started vaping over 1.5 years ago! The BUD delivers a nice chill vape. Not too extreme but for sure not lame either.
Chris/Dan you guys did an excellent job with the BUD and if the BUD is any indication of what is to come, this summer will be the best summer yet for vaping and will set Gotvapes as one of the top suppliers out there. I would love to see BUDS that hold more juice
I will update this post toward the end of the week.
