Finally got it done. If I'd had the money I would have bought a Spade or a Joker. I am now satisfied enough that I'm not gonna dish out the money I don't have for a better unit. I like making things and I'm fairly good at it, but this thing was a real pain to make. I have a Dremel, drill press, drills and all kinds of tools. But this thing took days to make. The commercial versions are well worth the price if you can afford it.

But it turned out well. For the life of me, I couldn't get the .... cap to screw in all the way. I dont know how Supersteph and geekmod got theirs to work. I'm using Trust Fires. They used those blue ones. I'm thinking my batteries are a little longer. It's only out about a 1/16. I was frustrated and said to hell with it. I may go back later and try to work it out. Kr808 connector. This is Superstephs version by the way. I didn't think I'd like the button at the bottom, but now that I've used it,it's not bad at all. About thirty dollars in parts. Thanks madvapes, Wally World, and that other place I don't like buying from (the big C :nah:).

I'm not sure why you have a thumbs down but I think you did a great job! It's clean and simple (to a point) and you can proudly say you made it yourself and can fix it if something goes wrong. That should last you a very long time and now you've been bitten by the mod-monkey and you'll make another one before too long.

Great Job!

Looks good.
Steph didn't have protected 10440's when she made hers, so her batts were shorter. I trimmed the "tabs" back to the threads, and I think I drilled out the tailcap a little. A 401 connector thread just happened to thread into the hole to hold the center pin. It was more of a pain than I expected but worth it.
$30.00?? Is that counting batts and a charger?

btw,
If it weren't for the Chinese, I wouldn't have electronic cigarettes.

Some of you took the thumbs down wrong. I'm ok with my mod. it's not perfect, but the thumbs down were for the big C. CHINA. It's a shame that most of our products come from there now. Most are junk, poisonous, or both.

Yeah, I dislike the dependence we have on China for too much of our goods these days as well. But I think that the only thing we don't make or have here in sufficient quantities is the atomizers. And some day someone will invent/manufacture atomizers here in the states. All else is made or available somewhere in this great nation of ours thanks to the inventiveness of people like you.

Sorry, I was one who misunderstood your thumbs-down but understand what you mean. I am not a fan of products that are made in China for MANY, MANY reasons, but am very fond of the fact that they developed and marketted the e-cig and saved my life - for that I cannot complain.

I honestly go out of my way to avoid products (other than e-cigs) made in China due to the quality of construction, inferior materials used, very poor quality control, lack of government inspections for safety and most important the fact that so many U.S. companies source there to save money. I know, businesses are in business to "make money" but if I were to market a product I would ensure quality and safety.

Just my thoughts.

I got the problems fixed with this unit. Also found a few tricks to make it an even easier mod. First problem was that it would not work right all the time. When I built it I chewed up that little silicone washer that insulates the positive terminal. It would work if I straitened the positive terminal up, but it would quit if I changed the cart. Leading me to believe that it was grounding out. It was. So I was ticked thinking I was gonna have to order more connectors to get a washer. Second problem I just did not trust the old dropping the rivet down the hole thing to make the positive connection. And then there was that whole end cap thing that bothered me, well just because. So when it quit working, for what ever reason I looked at the bottom side of the cart and it looked like it was caved in. The old light bulb lit up in my head. Hey that thing has a washer, it's gotta. So when I got home I grabbed the cart and tore out the bottom connector. The washer was toast, So I tore apart another, and wallah a washer. Heavier than the original to boot. Problem #1 fixed. #2 that rivet. When I pulled out the post on the cart to get the washer, I notice that the post was about a half an inch long compared to that little dinky piece that is normally the positive post for the battery. So I took that half inch post from the cart and took about a sixteenth off and used that for the positive post on the battery connector. #2 fixed, and in doing so, the loss of the rivet allowed the battery to slide in all the way. Also allowing the bottom cap to screw all the way in. (Also this is just something to say) the reinforcement washers that you can buy for 1/8 in. aluminum rivet are almost perfect for the end cap. They wont press in, but two part epoxy holds it very well. Just don't get it on the spring or the pin. I'm including a picture. The rivet, positive battery post, and positive cartomizer post. It sure vapes a lot better than the kr808d batteries. This half inch cartomizer post may very well work with the 901 connectors as well. Worth a shot.

I guess you don't watch TV, own a DVD player or drive a car. Anything that has electricity involved has Chinese parts, from the fanciest cars to jumbo jets to the medical diagnostic equipment in hospitals.

You're absolutely right, I was born just a few days ago. I said I go out of my way to avoid products made in China as there are many that are still made elsewhere.
