hey guys, i recently decided to take the plunge after a friend from sydney let me vape some amazing honey nougat juice from his uber-expensive mod.

slowtech finally got around to posting my SVD starter kit + nitecore i2 + sony us18650vtc3, along with dekang Cappuccino, Gudang Garam, Caramel and Camel of varied strengths (to see which i prefer).

anyway, after giving all the juices a good shake i filled up with caramel and went for it. i tried on voltages between 3.2 and 4.2 but despite smelling great it kind of didn't taste like anything except chemicals. i get a faint hint of glycol after exhaling but the rest just tastes like a metallic nothingness (can't articulate it sorry - but NOT a burned taste.)

i decided to tip out the caramel and fill up with the cappuccino instead, thinking that it could just need a lot of steeping (they're all steeping now). exactly the same thing on all those voltages except for instead of the faint and brief caramel aftertaste it's a slightly stronger chemically coffee faint and brief aftertaste.

so i'm assuming it's either that the liquid is just cheap and nasty (but i've read at least as many positive dekang reviews as negative ones and it seems odd that two flavours would take practically identical in this way), that the liquid needs more steeping (but it's been in the mail forever), or that there's a bunch of primer in the iclear 30.

what should i do? i have to admit it's a bit anticlimactic, i was so excited for this. should i tip out the liquid and try and clean the tank? if so, what's the best way to go about this?

thanks!
:D

It probably means that those particular juices all need time, to 'steep' as they call it round here, which basically means "age in a dark place and take the caps off every now and then, and then shake up every now and then"... some juice-vendors, ALL their juices are like that, if the order is custom mixed right at order-time. There are other vendors though, whose juices don't share that trait -- try myfreedomsmokes.com -- the Virginia I get from them is great right out of the mailbox, so their other flavors may be as well. And they're not expensive.

What kind of tank are you using? That's a huge factor in flavor.
i'm just running the iclear 30 that came with the kit. i didn't clean it first though, so i feel like part of this issue could be primer fluid?

yeah, i thought as much - they're all steeping now, but it still just seems a bit strange. i might order some 0% aussie juices cause i wanna enjoy my vape NOW! haha

Don't blame you a bit. That may be the only thing vapish I heartily dislike, all this durn waiting! Wait for money - place order - wait for it to come - yippee, it's here! Where's that e-juice! - oh ick! - wait for e-juice to "ripen" - repeat. That's why I'm glad I found myfreedomsmokes and they make the juice I vape all day every day. Probably would take a while to get to you, though -- they're not far from me at all. Finding someplace local is probably your best shot at having *something* to vape, even if it's not exactly what you had in mind.

well, rinsing the tank itself is the first thing; first I rinse with warm or hot water, then I put just a little alcohol in it and shake it up really good, then rinse well with purified water. If you have grain alcohol it would work, though I use rubbing alcohol and make sure to rinse it really well! I use my blow-dryer to make sure it's dried inside! :D

You can hold the base/coil under hot running water, to get old juice and some of the black stuff out of it, but to really make it taste good after it's all burnt, you kinda have to dry burn it. It scared the you know what out of me, the first time I had to do it, but it's really not hard or scary. I don't think you ever did say what kind of topper you're using with that, but here's the video that someone pointed me to, for the T3S and mini protank II, and it's great, it shows you how to do the whole thing, very easy. it's EXACTLY the way this guy describes and demonstrates it. If you have some different kind of topper, if you search on YouTube for "dry burn _______" (whatever your topper is), it's probably there.
