I live in Rhode island, and they are trying to ban ecigarettes, or at the least tax them very heavily. It goes to another vote the 26th and scares me to death. I quit smoking to save money, and they are just taking advantage of smokers. EVEN WHEN THEY ARE NO LONGER SMOKERS!!!!!:vapor: We already pay almost $9 a pack of cigarettes. About $8 of that being taxes. And now they want to tax us for quitting. Frigging corrupt. No reason this state keeps getting named most corrupt state in the country!! What other state has it's capital city's mayor go to JAIL for extortion and bribery while in office, not mentioning his many other schemes. UNBELIEVABLE!

You are preaching to the choir,I live in Detroit wanna talk corruption, Mayor in jail, how about bankruptcy. It is sad. They have not got around to taxing the Ecigs here yet but I'm sure it's coming. Wouldn't be so bad if the money went to fixing roads, schools, lights or something constructive instead of in their pockets.
Not the best 1st post but you got me going, got to get my posts in some how

Pfft! You guys got nothin' on the Peoples Democratic Republic of New York! I present Chuck Schumer (☭NY) as evidence. But I feel ya, JP. I spent most of my life in New Hampshire before I moved back to NY to be with family. It pains me to see where that state has gone. I am stocking up on vaping items I can forsee a ban or oppressive tax on, like 100mg nic liquid, spare heads, a couple more mods to just stick in storage, and some toppers as well. I have described myself as a "vaper-prepper". Pretty sad...

Yep, I hear ya & share your pain. Another NY-er here. Its unbelievable... So, they put up the sin taxes to try to force us to quit for our own good, meanwhile breaking all the laws they can, & still working up new ways to pick our pockets! The idea of banning or taxing e-cigs proves it was all total BS right from the start. So DISGUSTING!

You notice it more when you live there and it effects you directly. Try California! There are so many States in this Country that seem to forget about the folks that make the government work! That would be you and me BTW. Keep your head up and make sure your voice is heard! There are millions that feel the same way you do. Voices as one are easily overlooked. Voices in unison are a choir! It takes each and every one of us to stand together and make our voices heard!

Just reading to legal thread here gets my blood boiling! There are so many states that either have or are considering taxing ecigs like tobacco, and in MN ( my neighbor state) local city governments are making up new rules all the time since apparently a statewide ban isn't coming fast enough for them. Between the taxes and bans it's a miracle any B&M can make a go of it. Way to support small business!!!

There seems to be a common trend in this thread. Seems everyone who is complaining comes from a state run by the same political party.

Perhaps the way to stop this demonization and taxation of ecigs is to stop that political party.
I've noticed that also. All the cities that are bankrupt have the same thing in common.

It used to seem like it was one party in particular, but the other one is joining in now too.

That's crazy! That's like punishing people for trying to better themselves....... complete bull, in my opinion. I hate it when state (or federal, for that matter) governments start interfering in our lives. SUCKS!

One thing which seems to be a norm in politics is ignoring any public outcry. If a bill fails and the powers to be desire it the bill just keeps resurfacing from time to time with slight changes. I look at it as ramming things down peoples throats. This is why I share no joy in short term victories. The battle has just begun. By the way $8.00 per pack in cig tax they will lose? You bet the politicians in RI are going to tax hard right from the start. This issue is only a tax issue. The rest is subterfuge.
