Hello all, long time unregistered lurker until now...

First off I would like to say that ECF has been an AMAZING resource that has aided me in dropping the analogs without looking back. I am thankful for such a great online community in a world where there is so much garbage on the internet. To all of you that post here: THANK YOU!!!

I used to smoke a pack of full flavor "M" menthols a day for the last 11 years. I had tried to quit previously with many different methods; gum, patches, lozenges, snus, snuff, herbal supplements, you name it...and I always ended back up with the nasties. I had even tried an ecig several years ago, but that was back in the days where a cigalike was all that was available. Needless to say, that didn't cut it for me. I have now been quit for 118 days and I couldn't be happier.

My final quit attempt started back in October with the purchase of a Viper branded eGo kit from my local smoke shop. It came with 2 650mah batteries and 2 CE4 style clearos. As soon as I filled the clearo up with 18mg menthol and took the first puff, I knew that I was done with cigarettes...for good. That little eGo was such a nice step up from my previous vaping and quitting experiences, it completely satisfied my urge to smoke!

It has been almost 4 months now and I'm still going strong. No cravings at all, in fact I find the smell of cigarette smoke quite offensive now. I don't know how it ever tasted or smelled good to me!

In these 4 months I have moved on from my eGo to a VV 1300mah Smok Winder and most recently a Provari. As far as toppers I've been using a couple protank 2 minis, a protank 3 and I've been loving the heck out of my cheap little igo-l now that I'm getting into rebuilding. For juices I keep some Halo Coolmist and Sub Zero as my main menthol flavors and I keeps a couple clearos filled with whatever's tasting good to me. I'm working on lowering my nic from 18 to 12mg. I usually use about 2-3ml a day. I love all my gear, and even if I was stuck with just a basic eGo and some menthol juice, I'd be cool...

Detroit is a great town to be a vaper in with lots of great B&Ms around here. I've been able to buy everything I use locally including the Provari. I've got GLV just up the street from me which has great juice and some pretty well known mods I know. I'm actually waiting on their build list for a supermini as a lil bulletproof stealth piece.

Anyway, that's my story.

As a menthol smoker myself, I am looking for a good menthol juice. Can I ask which juice you used to get off the cigarettes. I'm a newbie and should have my first starter kit from maxvapor.com on Monday. The one I ordered comes with a free 10ml juice of your choice - I chose the menthol. We shall see...

I tried the patch as well, and it didn't take. I'm looking for a good e-juice that doesn't taste like sweet spearmint gum. I want it to taste like a good old menthol cigarette (tobacco & menthol). Started on Marlboro Red back in high school in '71 (16 years old). I switched to Benson & Hedges menthol lights for about 20 years ago, and about 8 years ago switched to Pall Mall menthol, since they were 2-3 bucks cheaper per pack. OUCH!!

I'm curious as to which brand of menthol juice you used to make you forget about cigs.

Mike,

The menthol I started with was just a generic type menthol 18mg nicotine, probably imported, sold locally in Detroit under the Viper brand. I have since found Halo's "cool mist" to be about as close to the menthol in a cigarette as it gets. Their "sub zero" is similar but more intense. However as with most menthol juices, they don't contain any tobacco flavor, but you could always mix some tobacco liquid in there to taste. I have experimented with that before, but I found that I was more satisfied with the cooling sensation and throat hit of a straight menthol than a blend. I actually mix the cool mist and sub zero 50/50 and that's been my favorite so far.

Best luck to you

Bob

I'll be happy to do my best! You are right though, I have found from my trips to the shops in the area that they really don't sell a lot of menthol juice. One place in particular didn't even carry (make) any because their turnover was so small on it.

Welcome (officially) to the forum, TallBob :toast:

Now, time to hop on and help folks as our resident menthol expert. It's sadly under represented in here, which is nuts given its popularity.

Mike,
Kind of an afterthought, I did try Johnson Creek's Tundra and Arctic Menthol, both of those DO have tobacco along with menthol. They were both good flavors, but I lost the taste for them. I still have a little of both. Tundra is the more intense of the two and is a VG only liquid.

Both Johnson Creek and Halo are USA made products if that is a factor to you.

Thanks for the info. I'll check the smoke shops locally first, but will definitely give Johnson Creek a try. Sounds like what I'm looking for. In all my searching, most menthol juices have no tobacco flavor, just as you mentioned in your first reply to me.

Thanks again.
