From the age of 14/15 I started smoking, it intensified with each phase of my life to the point of almost 2 packs a day at my current age of 25.

It was October 18th, 2012 (last month) at about 4:30pm when something clicked. It was 2 days after my only sons 4th birthday, and I had run out of cigarettes. I was so sick and tired of going to the store constantly in fear of having none on me when needed, the money spent, the mess they created, everything. I was sick of feeling sorry for my child who has to smell his fathers breath and clothes like that, to have me tell him "i gotta bring the garbage out" for a smoke break...
I did some quick searching online for "cheaper smoking" and low and behold somehow found myself here reading through posts about these magical things called e-cigarettes. I had seen and heard about them before, but didn't really educate myself as to how they work, but more importantly WHY they work. So my next trip to the store I picked up the Blu pcc kit. It was great for about a week, then the cartridge cost kept getting to me. I didn't feel the savings, but enjoyed the fact I could smoke anywhere, anytime, and I didn't smell nasty, I could BREATHE, and i could SMELL, my car wasn't full of ash, my clothes didn't stink, and i wasn't taking any unnecessary breaks at work.
Once I realized I could refill blu cartos, I picked up some Halo Tribecca ejuice from a local smoke shop, and got a bunch of cartos to work with the refill. By week three of owning the Blu, it wasn't keeping up with my heavy-smoker nature. Between the cartridge woes, battery charging constantly, and cost. So I did my research HERE on ecf and purchased my joyetech EGO-C Black Starter Kit online this morning. I am VERY excited, and PROUD, to enter the professional vaping world. I'm saving my life, my money, and giving my family and myself some peace of mind knowing l'm that much less likely to succumb to smoking-related cancers/ailments. A big THANK YOU to ecf and its wonderful members... so:

oh and by the way, once I have enough posts to create a thread elsewhere on the forums, Ill try and post something comparing the Blu system to a professional and high end system such as the Ego series

Congratulations for making the switch simbill. Great group of people here and we can share our experience to help you overcome any challenges you may face whether moral support when you need it , problems with equipment , and recommendations for future upgrades should you make that choice later.

I have a feeling you're gonna like vaping. Again , I'd like to welcome you to ECF , and wish you good luck on your journey to a healthier lifestyle.

I'm a computer nerd too. And yes, that savings starts to dwindle pretty quick in the beginning, I really hope once I find a setup I can quit spending so much.

As you can see in my op, its been just shy of 20 days analog free and ive saved an estimated $245.
-$64 blu starter kit
-$60 blu cartos
-$89 ego-c starter kit
leaves me with a $32 profit so far.. but once the ego arrives im going to buy some bulk e-liquid. Definitely 30+ml of Tribecca from Halo.. anyone else have interesting flavors I should sample? Im also a fan of Johnson Creek's classic tobacco they put into blu cartos

Welcome to ECF and congrats on giving up cigarettes!

You are not alone on the Blu kit getting you off cigarettes but finding it somehow... lacking. There are so many wonderful flavors and equipment out there, it can become quit an ordeal to find your "sweet spot" where everything just clicks and you don't need "more".

I DIY my juice to make it about 5 cents a ml and the money I save there I can buy vendor juice for a treat, or another PV to add to my "collection". I haven't saved a dime, but I enjoy myself! I think I *may be getting to the point I don't need anything else, but then they just come out with something "newer, faster, stronger!" and I wonder if THAT thing is going to be the one? I am hopeless

Whatever you do, stay away from the thread "pics of your stuff" or whatever it is, you will be a goner seeing all that great stuff people have. I can't stay away from it and wish the OP never started it

Gonna try and sell my boss my Blu kit once the Ego arrives. He went out and bought a disposable Blu after i showed him my PCC Blu kit, so hes clearly interested in saving money/lungs. I think $30 with 2 packs of cartos is more then fair!

Actually: Spoke to the manager at my local walgreens where I purchased the Blu Starter Kit (for $64.19 w/ tax) and she said she will honor their 30 day return policy and provide me a full refund. I would have thought this tied into a "tobacco" type product, barring all refunds/exchanges. :D

Way to go giving up the smokes, sorry analogs still bugs me. You will love the 'C'. It has a lot of options to throw at it and it's still small enough that you can bring it everywhere. I would recommend picking up a carrying case (also have spare tanks or batteries) or at min a lanyard as carrying it in the pocket can cause leaking issues as the tank gets pressure from the sides (only time it has ever leaked on me).

Cheers

Hey thanks for the tip! Im thinking of eventually ordering a 1000mah battery as a day-trip accessory, as well as some sort of hard protective case. I could see myself taking a knee to pick something up and twisting/smushing the thing in my pocket.
