I am new to vaping and bought the SE Gold at a mall kiosk. I guess I have a slightly different take on whether I got "suckered." Sure I paid too much, but you have to consider the likely alternative. Like most people I had never heard of e-cigs until I saw them at the kiosk. In all likelihood I would have filed it away in my mind for months and continued analogs.

Best case, had I not bought there I would have gone home, researched e-smoking, spent a week or two deciding between the myriad models and flavors etc. and possibly (possibly) ordered one. Then maybe a week for delivery. I guess I would have paid $75 and so I would appear to have saved myself $75.

Or would I? During the first three weeks with my SE, I avoided approximately 3 ctns of smokes ($180). This would have been my additional cost by going the "smart" route. So, by getting "screwed" I saved $105 and I have the 1-year replacement warranty on my atty and batts (which they appear to honor). The attys for most appear to run about $10 and get consumed monthly ($10 x 12 months = $120 additional savings). The SE attys seem to last longer though.

All in all I can't say I'm dissatisfied. Now, if I want another one I won't go to the mall because I have already gotten all the mall benefit.

Lets face it, smoking is like getting a pet. The initial purchase price is in the noise. It really doesn't make any difference in the grand scheme. If the SE Kiosk gets people interested, gets them out there, and does business fairly (whatever they charge), then I say good for them.

SE and njoy are doing us a great service by putting their product in the mainstream. The more units out there the more we will attract vendors and manufacturers. It becomes harder to ban. It becomes more familiar and potentially accepted in non-smoking venues.

Anyway, I just wanted to give a different perspective than the usual. When you decide if you got screwed you need to consider the whole picture. Your situation may be very different, but it seems that many people share my situation. They probably didn't get screwed either.;)

I discovered ecigs by way of an SE mall kiosk myself... Personally, I wasn't overly impressed with their product, and I didn't buy their claim that a cart is equal to a pack of cigarettes... (But lots of sellers claim that) I also thought their prices were a little steep (even after they offered me a $30 discount). But it did pique my curiosity enough to go home and do some on-line research... I hardly buy anything in the "real world" anymore... I figure just about everything can be found better and cheaper on-line... So I am grateful to SE for making me aware of the existence of electronic cigarettes...

After several days I'm quite happy with me SE Gold. No complaints, especially after learning that you can make a fresh cartridge last as much as 5 times longer with just two drops of Johnson's Creek Smoke Juice! The carts are too little probably compared to those for other ecigs, but once you learn how to drip a couple drops and reuse old carts, this ecig thing become incredibly more appealing. No problems with my SE Gold yet and I get plenty of vapor for many, many draws after just a couple drops to top off a new cart or adding to an old one. I also like that it looks very much like a real cig for that "stealth" appeal. I'm sure others are "better" especially for those who "dip" rather than "drip," but this is a nice product. Not sure how much you paid, but I got two complete starter sets for about $150.

Why is it, however, that for how much they over charge they couldn't at least provide a PV that lasts 8 hours on one charge, gives great throat hit and vapor ever inhale and won't let liquid get into the battery compartment? I don't have any problem with what they charge but just that there are so many PV's that provide the above benefits for the same price or less. The units they sell only cost $15 coming out of China in bulk.

Lin,
I really liked your post. I too bought the smoking everywhere cig (actually last weekend), kinda liked it - went home and also started researching. Now one week later I am a proud owner of a 510 from esmokeytreats and I absolutely love it. I am so excited, with the smoking everywhere model I would still have to have an analog cit every now and then, but since my 510 came in on Thursday - all charged up for Friday no analog cigs - wahoooo - so whatever the original cost at the mall kiosk, it was well worth it just to be where I am at now.
Have a great day!!!

Good attitude Linthorn:

I hear people complain thay got "suckered". Hey - you did it, and it's over. Consider it a starters fee. Now you can sit back and enjoy your new e-cig while you research the other e-cigs, advanced mods, manual batteries, etc.

And if you decide to go with something else, you always have that first e-cig for a back up. Welcome to vaping.

Cheers; jd

Great way to look at it! :thumb: Thanks for that. I think I have paid the most out of all the posts I've read on ECF - Was on vacation in Vegas and paid $180. for 1 starter kit and 1 extra pack of carts. After getting home and researching e-cigs I was totally teed off at SE's over priced products. I hated this e cig as every time I tried it I got a mouthful of liquid. Then found ECF - learned about dripping and now its my fav sit at the computer and puff away cig. Bought a VX2 for work and the out and about e cig. Now I'm waiting for the new Janty sticks release. Then I'm gettin' me one of those! :D
Still smoking analogs in between but down to a few a day. Trying to find a non-sweet juice to vape all day the candy/fruity juice is too sweet. I use 0 mg to puff away all day and change it up to 6 to 11 mg for the cravings.

Just wanted to say thanks for your take on what I thought I got taken on. LOL
