Well after 30+ years of smoking and doing shots of whiskey -- not to mention eating very spicy foods my taste buds seems to be ruined somewhat. I tried a bunch of different formulas over the last month or so. This weekend I finally came across a formula that allowed me to taste the flavor like I wanted.

37.5% --- 1 1/2 ml of 48mg PG based nic-juice
37.5% --- 1 1/2 ml of VG
25% --- 1 ml of Perfumers apprentice flavoring

This gives me a final nic level of 18mg in a e-juice that I can actually taste and with the 37.5% VG I get tons of vapor and a smooth hit.

It did for me too, was weird three weeks after I quit was brushing my teeth and thought wow this toothpaste tastes totally different to me now. :)

One tip though when it comes to taste, I suggest rotating flavors regularly. I have come to find if you vape a certain flavor for to long you tend to wear your taste buds down on it. I vaped peppermint for week straight and I could no longer even taste it until I laid off for 2-3 day's.

When I first started mixing I remember making a 10ml bottle of cheese cake flavored, I used an entire dram bottle of loranns cheese cake to be able to taste it!

Your taste buds will bounce back, your sense of smell also :)

A tip if your switching flavors or cant taste one. Clean your pallete, eat a plain cracker or two.. plain white bread roll or sherbert works well for me too. You might be suprised at what you can taste with a fresh palate :)

I'm having a terrible time with all this. Nothing I mix taste good at all and I don't know if the whole taste bud issue or what. I've even started adding menthol just to get any kind of satisfaction but then I lose flavors. I've been too busy to mix really anything so I've just been exhausting everything I already had but its like being completely lost. I have a ton of flavors and flavor it yourself, yet nothing I mix tastes good :-(. Just really frustrated and I'm just hoping I'm going through an adjustment period that will change again soon.

From what I can tell so far a decent mix for full flavor would be ---

25% PG nic juice --- if 48 mg to start you end with 12 MG -- 36 mg nic start, ends with 9mg final
25% prefummers flavoring
25% straight 0 mg PG liquid
25% VG -- to boost the vapor production (Wal-mart works)

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Try that I think you will be surprised with the outcome with both flavor and vapor production. Also realize it takes a lot of time for the flavor buds to return --- mine seem to still be gone but 25% flavoring seems to make them work regardless.

You think thats bad - After 47 years of smoking and eating spicy food (and much later whiskey) - After getting a delivery from One Stop DIY shop today - I finally found a mixture I can taste.

1/3 48mg 50/50 nic-juice
1/3 PA Vanilla Custard flavoring
1/3 PA Cotton Candy (Thank you so much for this Kimberly!)

Kimberly is a really great vendor - and her products and advise can not be beat. I am hoping my taste buds will regenerate some day - but even if not I can finally taste what I am vaping!

Damn that's a little more flavoring then I use -- I will try and imitate that with my next flavoring order and see how I like it. Currently I have flavors that might not compliment each other so doing 1/3 -- 1/3 with 2 different flavors is not an option at this time.

Ckreef, PAs Cotton Candy is basically PG and Ethyl Maltol. Its only 10% EM, as it wont disolve in the PG at a higher concentration.

Btw, the walmart glycerin I do not believe is food grade, I would suggest trying Wiltons Glycerin instead. You should be able to find this at a craft store in your area or where ever Wilton Cake Decorating supplies are sold.

Yes, USP means the product has been packaged to meet FDA requirements and it is safe for food and medical use. When we first started mixing we tried that walmart vg, it leaves an after taste ect, similar to the problem that Xenite had previously.

Try the wiltons once, its pretty inexpensive and I think your taste buds will thank me :)

Yes it does seem to have a taste. Will go out and find the Wiltons this weekend and try it on my next mix this weekend. (I mix once every weekend -- juice for the following week). Will post back what I discover.
