Hi everyone,

I have a (hopefully) simple, possibly silly, totally newbie, 2-part question for you.:p

info: I have an eleaf istick 30w and the eleaf melo tank. Definitely a huge step up from the ecigs ive tried in the past and Im really loving it so far. I got a typical tobacco blend from the shop i bought my set up from,( moon mountain sweet mother of mars) I dig it, pretty standard tobacco flavor with a sweet undertone. I wanted to branch out and try some new flavors since im running low. I ordered a bunch from Zues juice and also a bunch from Mt Baker Vapor, and- well... aside from the Moo juice (strawberry cream) which is ok as an additive to the tobacco... they all taste pretty damn gross. Ive got 9 different flavors and I havent even remotely found one that I'd call delicious...I read about steeping as a way to enhance flavor, so i'm trying that. (cap on- cool room- let sit?) Could this be because of the kind of tank i'm using? AND if so, are there any other fairly inexpensive models that would be good to test new flavors so i'm not running everything through my one tank?

ANY info or guidance is greatly appreciated!

I have had 2 tanks (other than the little protank3 I started with) the Aspire Atlantis and the Kanger Sub Tank Mini. Both should work fine on your 30w, and I really am bummed that my mini leaks everywhere because it gives you great options (1.2 ohm coils, .5 ohm coils and it comes with a rebuildable deck as well if you wanted to try your hand at building your own coils) I don't have any issues with my Atlantis at all and the flavor seems good, I really loved the Sub Tanks airflow and taste, it's a shame I got one of the laky ones :(

Thanks for the reply :) sorry about the leakage, what a bummer. I've been reading since i posted this. I suppose the question i should have asked would be about dripping and if someone could recommend a model for that. oi vey. SO. MUCH. TO. LEARN! I just want to taste my juices, now im wondering if sub ohming is the wtg or if i need to be looking at other models. I feel like the more i read, the less i know lol.

You might want to look into some regular atomizers to taste juices with, they're relatively cheap, and easy to clean(rinse and dry burn) between flavors. You just need to get the right ohms and a drip tip that fits(510). I'm not really up on what's all out there, I'm sure there are good bulk deals. You'll have to look around , or maybe someone else can give you some better suggestions. I personally would rather pay a bit more for quality if possible, but that's up to you. Here's an example of what a regular atomizer is.-> Empiremods Bridge Free LR510 1.8ohm Also, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfHW94BquxY

Are there traces of a previous flavor when you add a new one? Sometimes that can taste funky. I'm new too, and so far I like almost everything I've tried but I do find I'm getting vapers tongue quite a lot if I vape too much. Good luck finding some flavors you love. Nicoticket is having a 50% off sale (coupon code BOGO at checkout.) I'm not sure whether or not I can say that here, lol, but they do have some excellent premium juice. :)

Many DIYers use drippers to taste-test their batches. Just so you know, these type of drippers do not have a lot of airflow. They are not designed for that.

Here is a great blog post on dripping by ECF member The Ocelot on non-rebuildable dripping. Drip, Drip, Drip - The Sound of Dripping.

You could also consider a small rebuildable dripper: THE SMOK DRIPPER RDA - DRIPPING ATOMISER

Do you have a problem with artificial sweeteners? Nutrasweet for example? If so an artificial sweetener ie sucralose used in many juices might be your problem.
If no problem with artificial sweetners I have no ready answer for you.

I have an issue with some of the artificial ingredients and many commercial juices taste horrible to me, but most others love them.

I have no problem with many of the commercial tobacco juices.

You've already gotten some great suggestions. It is very difficult to get by with only one or two tanks unless you want to stick with just a few flavors. Eleaf, the maker of your istick, also makes several smaller tanks specifically for use with the isticks. Fortunately, they are inexpensive and you can have a few so that your favorite flavors are always available. They are not sub-ohm tanks, however. Here's a link to the GS Air which many people love: Eleaf GS Air Tank
I have several of these at only $10 each.

A little bit more expensive is the Aspire Nautilus Mini, which many people also believe is the perfect match with isticks. They are about $25 or so per tank. Here is a link to check those out: Aspire Nautilus Mini BVC
There is a section here in the forum about clearomizers/tanks where you can learn a lot: Clearomizers

As far as your "taste buds" go, they are probably NOT destroyed, LOL. There are a lot of changes to go through, though, when you quit smoking. Your sense of smell will improve, things smell and taste differently from time to time, and if you vape the same flavors for a long time you will sometimes get "vaper's tongue" where you can't taste at all or taste things strangely. You need lots of water, vaping dehydrates you. Just try to read what you can, go with it, ride it out, try new things, and don't get discouraged. Try a few juice flavors from each category to find what you like - your favorites could be fruits, tobaccos, desserts, coffees - you never know until you try. Finding the right juices can be a long, disappointing, and expensive journey. Sometimes it feels like a shot in the dark. If you can go to a vape shop and try without buying, that is great. If you can't, check out the eliquid area of the forum for ideas on what other people have had luck with. General E-Liquid Discussion

Usually if it sounds too good to be true, it is. There are hundreds and hundreds of juice companies - not all of them are good! Some examples I have had good luck with:
Giant Vapes -- they carry most/all of the "premium lines" and ship free. GiantVapes.com | Giant eJuice Selection. Giant Savings.
The Plume Room -- Very reputable vendor with flavor of the week specials every week and sample sizes: The Plume Room
Nicoticket -- 2014 ECF Member's Choice winner in most juice categories, having a 50% off sale now with code "bogo" -- http://www.nicoticket.com
Ahlusion -- another excellent vendor, great fruit vapes, 35% off sale right now, you will see the price when the juice is in your cart: Ahlusion LLC - Home
You will see other companies in the liquids forum, too - these are just the ones I use the most.
Sign up for newsletters when you go to vendor websites, that will tell you when sales are going.
And read everything you can here on ECF - no place better to find what you are looking for and get the help you need! GOOD LUCK!

Hi Phoenix, Welcome to ECF!

The Mount Baker flavors definitely need some steeping time before they're ready to vape, and many of them need a little "airing out" as well.

Smell the liquids; if you get a chemical or perfumey overtone then you should air them out. Squeeze the air out and let it back in a couple times, put the cap back on, give the bottle a good shake and put it away. Repeat this once or twice a day until the chemical smell is gone, and the liquid smells flavorful (or at least not nasty).

To steep them, leave them in a cool dark place. They will benefit from a good shake every once in a while. (You can steep them faster using a crock-pot or ultrasonic cleaner - search ECF for tips on that).

Since Mount Baker makes all their juices to order, what you get is very fresh e-liquid, that hasn't had enough time to properly age and meld. I bet you will find that a lot of the flavors really come to life (although there's bound to be a few that just aren't for you!)

ok... I just have to say THANK YOU!! Honestly I don't even know how to follow threads and I was feeling so dumb yesterday for posting in the wrong place and basically being a 32 year old woman-child when it comes to internet things. When i finally figured out how to find this thread again, and saw all of the completely helpful responses I was blown away. You guys are awesome!! <3

Phoenix,

Don't worry about posting in the wrong place, it happens all the time (particularly in "Simple Solutions" since nobody, myself included knows what's actually supposed to belong there! ;-)

ECF is pretty complicated, but here's a couple of quick things that I hope will help you navigate more easily:

Up near the top, you'll see a "What's New?" pulldown. You can select "My Posts" from this, and it will show you every thread you've posted on (and you can tell by the color whether or not there are new posts since you last visited the page).

Also, at the very top you will see "Welcome, PhoenixFyer". If you click on "PhoenixFyer" it will take you to your home page, where you can see posts that you (and your friends) made, see likes you've received or given, etc. One way to mark a particular topic you are interested in is to just "like" a post on it; then you can find it again in your "likes Given" page. (You can also get to this page by clicking on your name on any of your posts). You can also subscribe to threads, but I find just liking them is easier!

I usually check out "New Posts" frequently, since it shows topics that are active.

The search function in ECF isn't that great or easy to use. Instead, I'll go to google and search for (for example) "ECF crock pot". Usually that will get you to what you're looking for much more quickly!
