Just when you think you've heard it all.

I found that some liquids, that were high in flavouring, tasted horrible when I upgraded to low ohm hardware.
Think about it, two or three times the power/heat/vapour, they were horrendous tasting at those levels.
If the previous suggestions don't completely work for you(or if you just want a less expensive alternative to try) keep this in mind....

You can get plain unflavoured PG or VG USP and dilute a little bit of the offending liquids to a lower strength.
All my liquids have been diluted 100% with unflavoured PG USP. It's inexpensive at 10 bucks for 500ml.
It works best with the PG over the VG as pg carries the flavour better, vg will mute the flavour more.
It may be worth trying, I now have twice as much liquid to vape. Cheers.

One vendor I've ordered from that has nice, heavily flavored juices at ridiculously low prices is ITCVapes | Gourmet e-Juice Priced Affordably. I was surprised to find good juice for low prices (30ml for $7.99). You could also order small 15ml bottles for $4.99 each to sample more flavors cheaply. I found these juices to be highly flavored with little or no aftertaste or bitterness. Recommended.

Taste begins to return once you have quit smoking for good (you didn't comment on whether you had quit or were still smoking). There's a period after quitting smoking where your taste buds are in recovery mode. The taste buds need a while to recover before you begin to really begin to taste and smell normally. When your sense of smell returns, so will your sense of taste.

How long ago did you quit smoking?

When I first changed to vaping I had the same problem. I tried dozens of flavors but found them to either be disgusting or not taste anything from them at all. It took a few months before my sense of taste corrected itself and I could actually taste the flavors as I should. I still find some of them to be disgusting, but most I can now enjoy, and I can definitely taste them all.

Another place to check out (yes, even more options to be overwhelmed by!) is Alice in Vapeland. Some of their juices are a bit subtle, so they might not suit you if you are looking for big, big flavor. But others are really flavorful. You can check out the customer reviews on their site or at GiantVapes.com and find the ones that sound like your cup of tea (they do make some tea juice, btw). I have had similar struggle finding juice with flavor I enjoy that dent have some weird ...., metallic, or fake taste. All of the juice from Alice in Vapeland has been pretty good to me and they have interesting flavors, like catnip (kind of a garden mint flavor rather than a big menthol hit) and ginger. They taste like they are made from real ingredients.
However, your best option might be to find a Brick & Mortar that has a tasting bar. If they have anything by Five Pawns, try it. They are another gourmet producer. I've only tasted some in a shop, so I can't swear by it, but many folks do.

The other thing that others have mentioned is gear. I started with an Atlantis, which is similar to your Lemo, and the Nautilus Mini. From the get go, I found more taste from the Naut Mini. This seems to be a really subjective thing, but I get less flavor from my Sub Ohm gear. Others swear by it. Might be that the tighter air flow means the same amount of vapor of over a longer draw across the tongue and around nose and mouth. I'm not really sure, I'm still pretty new at this myself.

As far as getting a RDA - pick up a clone and try it out. I've just started with them and the best aspect of them for me is that I can rewick my coils that get gunned up pretty quickly from El Toro NET (Naturally Extracted Tobacco) juices. It has also been handy for mixing juices to find a nice flavor without committing a whole tank it. If you do go this route, find someone that can teach you a bit about rebuilding. It will take less time, be safer and result in a better Vape. And always, don't drip and drive.

The 510 atomizer route might suit you if you can abide by the tight draw on it. The one I have is like trying to suck a very thick milkshake through a small straw, so I can't do it all day. But, it makes palette for mixing flavors. Ikenvape has a sale this weekend. It's cheap enough to try.

Good luck chasing that flavor.

Phoenix,

Don't worry about posting in the wrong place, it happens all the time (particularly in "Simple Solutions" since nobody, myself included knows what's actually supposed to belong there! ;-)

ECF is pretty complicated, but here's a couple of quick things that I hope will help you navigate more easily:

Up near the top, you'll see a "What's New?" pulldown. You can select "My Posts" from this, and it will show you every thread you've posted on (and you can tell by the color whether or not there are new posts since you last visited the page).

Also, at the very top you will see "Welcome, PhoenixFyer". If you click on "PhoenixFyer" it will take you to your home page, where you can see posts that you (and your friends) made, see likes you've received or given, etc. One way to mark a particular topic you are interested in is to just "like" a post on it; then you can find it again in your "likes Given" page. (You can also get to this page by clicking on your name on any of your posts). You can also subscribe to threads, but I find just liking them is easier!

I usually check out "New Posts" frequently, since it shows topics that are active.

The search function in ECF isn't that great or easy to use. Instead, I'll go to google and search for (for example) "ECF crock pot". Usually that will get you to what you're looking for much more quickly!

Hero! Thank you :)

Welcome Phoenix :)

You've been given some great recommendations about juices. The one thing to remember is that everyone's tastes are different. What I swear up and down by, you may abhor. Local shops often allow tasting, but remember those juices are usually 0mg nic, and may taste a little different when you get it home.

"Steeping".... That's an oft-debated topic. I do think that some juices get better when they have time to "settle down". I ordered a few small bottles from Mt. Baker a couple of weeks ago. There's one that I was dying to try and so I loaded it up. OMG (not 0mg nic!) it tasted like plastic! Fast forward a couple of weeks, and I topped off a tank with some of this, in hopes that the plasticky taste had subsided. It did. It's not 100% what I was hoping for in the flavor, but I get the majority of the essence, so not a total loss.

However, I DIY my juices (for the most part) now. Besides my local B&M, I've only bought four other vendors' pre-made juices. And all of that was from a total of 7 or 8 orders. I've read where lots of folks will get something, and it's horrendous at first. They stash the bottle and sometime down the road re-discover it. Then it's just fine. Either tastebuds had changed, or the juice really came into its own.

So, do pick up smaller bottles with which to start. At least then, if it's something you REALLY don't like, there's less "guilt" in allowing it to be paid-forward or made to go away.

Good luck in your hunt - my quest for "THE" flavor seems to be never-ending (which is the beauty of DIY, IMHO.)

Heh... Rather than quote everything from everyone-

I quit 12 days ago (YAY) first time I've ever quit and not snuck or bummed a cig at all. I guess it will take a while for my taste to return properly. Even some of my favorite foods from restaurants taste strange to me lately. (bummer) I have definitely been freaked the eff out by the snizz thats coming out when i cough though! BLECH!

Being a beginner in the world of vaping is sure expensive much more so than smoking since I've been rolling my own for the last year- so awesome to have this community to refer to to help find the least expensive options!

I took advantage of the Nicoticket sale and snagged a couple to add to my stock. I think it just comes down to trial and error, building my arsenal of gear and settling into vaping life. At the very least this is so much better and so much more fun and exciting than being cast outside by dumpsters (aka the smoking area)

I think the juice/flavor problem is a combination of different issues that will be solved once i find my footing and test things out. The more i'm reading and absorbing the more I'm thinking maybe sub-ohm vaping might not be the best choice for me; the clouds are definitely nice don't get me wrong, but the flavor is just as important! I kind of just went with what the kid at the shop was trying to sell me, I didn't (and kind of still don't *really*) understand the whole sub vaping thing. But that's another topic for another thread!

I might get some drip atomizers and see how i like that. i'm not too comfy at the idea of building my own just yet, though i'm sure between my girlfriend and I we will become obsessed with it!

Thanks again everyone for being SO helpful!

Hi everyone,

I have a (hopefully) simple, possibly silly, totally newbie, 2-part question for you.:p

info: I have an eleaf istick 30w and the eleaf melo tank. Definitely a huge step up from the ecigs ive tried in the past and Im really loving it so far. I got a typical tobacco blend from the shop i bought my set up from,( moon mountain sweet mother of mars) I dig it, pretty standard tobacco flavor with a sweet undertone. I wanted to branch out and try some new flavors since im running low. I ordered a bunch from Zues Juice and also a bunch from Mt Baker Vapor, and- well... aside from the Moo Juice (strawberry cream) which is ok as an additive to the tobacco... they all taste pretty damn gross. Ive got 9 different flavors and I havent even remotely found one that I'd call delicious...I read about steeping as a way to enhance flavor, so i'm trying that. (cap on- cool room- let sit?) Could this be because of the kind of tank i'm using? AND if so, are there any other fairly inexpensive models that would be good to test new flavors so i'm not running everything through my one tank?

ANY info or guidance is greatly appreciated!

for testing/sampling flavors, an rda is best.

an rda is a very simple device; basically it's a big rebuildable atomizer coil holder with no tank.

other than that there are disposable 510 dripping atomizers

Welcome Phoenix. That nasty cough is your lungs clearing the junk out and it is common for new vapers. I've spent hundreds of dollars trying sample bottles of juices from lots of online vendors. I've only found about 3 bottles worth vaping all the way through. Most (almost all) have an aftertaste I just don't like. Although some juices need time to age correctly, I've got some from places people rave about that I just can't stand even after 5 months of waiting for them to come into their own. Taste is subjective. Everyone likes something different. I did get a Magma dripper for tasting to see if things were ready. Once I've decided, I can change the cotton wick and taste the next bottle. Makes it easy and cotton is cheaper than coils. If/when you get ready to try to make your own juice, there is a DIY section just for that with plenty of expertise for advice.

Hey everyone, just wanted to update: Nicoticket juices ended up completely saving my ... and the time it took me to blow through those gave the other load of flavors i had kicking around enough time to steep. i got a better idea of what Iiked. Im looking into finding the right RDA for me now that im much less nervous about the idea- I had to have emergency surgery a few weeks ago, being housebound i had no choice but to learn how to rebuild my melo tank atomizer- worked great in a pinch but now im sure that dripping is my next step. Thanks again for all the helpful suggestions and support! (by the way- it felt DAMN good to be able to tell the docs at the hospital i was an ex smoker :D 41 days strong and feeling SO good about it)
Cheers!
