I'm new here and am hoping for some insight into a new issue with vaping. I quit smoking (pack a day) 5 months ago and have been happily vaping from day one of quitting cancer sticks. About 4 weeks ago I started noticing the tip of my tongue was sore and my lips felt burned or severly chapped. I turned down the voltage on my battery and went to 0 nicotine for a couple of weeks with no relief. My tongue and lips look absolutely fine...no sores, no cracks, but burn like after being scalded from a hot cup of coffee. I went to my doc last week, had a bunch of blood work done and everything is normal. No dehydration, vitamim levels are normal, blah, blah, blah. I am going on day 5 of no vaping and am going out of my mind! Could this be a PG allergy that just wont go away? I should probably mention the fact that I have a compromised immune system due to Crohns disease and regular Remicade infusions.

Has anyone else had similar issues with vaping? I have spent a ton of money on equipment and have enough liquid to probably open a small store:) And dont want to give up vaping, but the pain is driving me out of my mind.

Any advice?

What topper/carto are you using? A top coil can be too hot and spit hot juice in your mouth. That's what would happen to me. If you are using a top coil try changing to a bottom coil like a protank or t3s.
Another thing can be the flavor. Menthol and cinnamon flavors can cause irritation. I can't vape cinnamon bc it causes sore spots. No blisters or anything just spots that hurt.
I doubt its an allergy because an allergy usually causes breakouts and/or breathing issues.

Yes, I have and found out I have this Burning Mouth Syndrome

You might want to visit your doctor or dentist, sorry to hear :(

I also have an autoimmune disease that manifested after I quit. I have the same problem with juices and it doesn't matter the mix, flavored or unflavored, or nic level. You name it, they all do it. It got really super bad just before I was diagnosed in August, after vaping 4 months. I am still in titration mode for my medication but as my overall health is improving, so is the reaction to my juices.

I personally believe that it's some kind of inflammatory response due to our respective conditions. Our compromised immune system can't recognize true "invaders" and pretty much anything can trigger an inflammatory reaction. Auto-immune disorders like yours, mine, and others I think generally promote unhealthy levels of inflammation at a cellular level.

One thing that helped me (unfortunately) was smoking a little. I'm not suggesting this, it was just something that happened to me. Then I discovered all kinds of studies on inflammatory diseases and how some tobacco alkaloids actually help reduce inflammation in the body. I started using WTA eliquid and Swedish snus occasionally to supplement my vaping, and I have considered trying Anatabloc supplements but they are very expensive. I don't smoke at all anymore.

Anyway, that's my theory on the burning mouth issue and it seems to have gotten better for me over time using these alternatives and getting treatment.

I do vape menthol, but in very small amounts. I was using Mr Freeze for quite some time and had no problems (2-3 drops per tank) of fruit flavor. I can pinpoint when the problem started and I think it could be due to a cheap nicotine additive from a local vape store, but I quit using the liquid and threw away the tanks over 3 weeks ago and still not better.

I saw that online the other day? Is there anything you can do about it? Any relief for the discomfort and can you still vape?
If you're talking to me about the BMS ... uh, so far there's not much to be done about it. You might can get some lidocaine from your dentist to numb your mouth like I did; I still vape some days ... kind of depends on the amount of pain I'm having that day

Alisa1970....I am so sorry to hear this. I have suffered with Crohns most of my life, had surgery and have tried just about every medication possible. Remicade is sort of my last chance at any hope of long term remission. I quit smoking on the advice of my Rheumatologist and common sense, but did not want to quit! I truly enjoyed smoking and still miss it. I appreciate your suggestions and wish you well in your journey with your auto-immune issues.

There are a few members here who also suffer from Crohn's...I know that nicotine is good for controlling it. One member in particular still smokes a few a day due to it helping him but he also uses Snus and is looking at other tobacco alkaloids either in supplements or WTA liquid to see if those will help more.

Thanks Alisa...I recently learned that smoking is actually beneficial for Ulcerative Colitis, but was not aware of possible benifits for Crohns (hard to imagine "benefits" associated with cigarette smoking), but will talk to my doctor. Maybe i will get a prescription to smoke...lol!

You wouldn't be the first one!

Pardon me but I can't tell ... are you male or female?
