My wife says my vaping "stinks."

Anyone else have this problem? Maybe it's my choice of juices (I'm still into the tobacco type of vapes, slowly moving into other flavors), but my wife can't stand the smell. And she's a smoker!
Personally, I know I can't smell much of anything, and I have had people at work tell me that some vapes smell "delicious." I just don't get it.

I can't usually detect a smell or aroma either, except for a couple of my coffee flavors. I admit my sense of smell is not that great. However, I can smell a cigarette smoker from 4 feet away.

I'm currently living with my brother (nonsmoker), and he dislikes me vaping around him either in his car or at home. He says it affects his sinuses. I respect that and don't do it around him. I still vape in my own bedroom and keep my door closed.

Myself and another co-worker used to stealth vape in the locker room at my former job (hospital). The few co-workers who knew that we vaped said that they liked the smells of the vapor and often remarked our locker room never smelled so good before.

My wife likes any of my vanilla's. The fruits she cant smell. The tobaccos are iffy. If vanilla is present she likes. If honey is present, she can't stand it. Smells like mule pee.

I mainly vape unflavored now, so she just gets annoyed when the plume get's in her face.

I've noticed that a lot of darker juices do in fact stink if you aren't the one vaping it.

My friend loves this juice thats pancakes with syrup, it stinks so much like syrup. Also i dont smell other flavors except coffee and sometimes menthol.

Well, had some liquids that are ok when you at the mouthpiece but do smell funny to others.
There's no accounting for taste - what makes some people retch in disgust others may consider the epitome of flavour.
Prime example : Jackfruit ( aka durian ) . Prohibited to bring into and eat in many hotels in the Far East, cuz they smell like an exploded outhouse. Yet, it's considered a delicacy too...

When it comes to marriage, it's a fine line to walk between keeping the peace and compromising. Does wife have any other issues with you vaping or is it just the juices themselves she objects to? Does she smoke in your home? If not, maybe she expects you to vape outside since she smokes outside? Lots of variables here, but it's ultimately your call as to what lengths you're willing to go to for her happiness as well as yours.

My husband and I both vape. The only flavor he will vape is a tobacco. We went through sooooo many flavors before he found one he enjoys so I am just happy that he has cut down on the number of smokes he smokes. It doesn't smell very good but I would NEVER say a word about it. He probably doesn't like some of the flavors I vape either. How can I know since he doesn't say anything about it, other than commenting occasionally about one that smells good.

Maybe you could try some non-tobacco flavors and see if you can find something that you both can enjoy.

Having a cig smoker tell somebody else that vaping stinks is like having a homeless person that's been sleeping in a cardboard box outside for the past two years tell somebody else to take a shower.

My wife is a former smoker and she complains about the smell when I vape in the same room as her. She has complained about a vanilla custard eliquid among others. If I stealth vape or don't exhale a bold amount she doesn't seem to notice it.

Some of us have bad memories about cotton candy. I shudder whenever I smell it (former carnie here)

My wife never smkoed and obviously doesnt vape, she enjoys the aroma but sometimes is annoyed by the cloud that blocks the tv.

I have a flavor called "smoked prune and tobacco". Very nice when vaping. Overwhelming smell. Not really bad, but so strong... I do not use it anymore.

My wife complains about the smell of some of the liquids I use. She has complained about some of the vanillas, and she says some of the fruits smell like Halls cough lozenges or medicine. I get her back though. She vapes pure menthol and I won't kiss her unless she rinses her mouth out first.

She's never complained about the spearmint, but I know EVERYONE can smell that. It's like having a piece of spearmint gum shoved up your nose it's so strong.

I personally find most of the tobacco flavors to be quite offensive smelling. Like a dirty sock smell. Not as bad as real tobacco, but not pleasant and quite strong compared to most other liquids.

What's delicious to some is not to others.


My partner loves something called Hops Blood, and to me it's the most acrid nasty foul disgusting smelling vapor. To me it's worse than being at a car dealership the day the service truck comes out to pump out their old oil tanks. I'll tolerate it in the house, but when it comes to vaping in the car it's a no no, I just don't want to have to be confined to an area and "have" to smell it.

Or maybe your wife (who is still a smoker) is just trying to avoid being asked to quit and will use the bad smell of vaping to bolster her case to not quit the *real* stinkies.
