Hi all,

My Wismec Predator's charging port just recently broke and I am now in the market for a new box mod. This was my first box mod and I really liked it, but this Predator 228 only lasted me 3 months!! I contacted Wismec and they wouldn't do anything for me since it was 10 days over their 90 day warranty. So, what mod would you all recommend I look at next? Thank you!

Sorry I meant to ask, does it work when you do not plug in the micro usb cable?
Do you have an external charger?

I do have an external charger that I use at night. That works fine, but I like the freedom of charging it in my car or on my desk at work. I'd rather buy a new mod than 2 additional external chargers, y'know?

Rooodie, I know little to nothing about dual batt mods, but my bud, @Rixsta sure does.

I know he just got a Copper Smoant Battlestar dual 18650 (right), and I'm sure he'd be more than helpful to you in making some suggestions.

Best of luck to ya. :)

2 external chargers? Most chargers come with 2,4 and sometimes 6 bays to charge more than 1 battery at a time. Xtar is a great charger and is less than $20. Seems a shame to bench a working mod just because the usb port is flaky. Changing out batts only takes less than 30 seconds. First rule of vaping is always to have backups for your backups. This is so if/when something happens to your fav mod you don't go running back to the stinkies before additional supplies arrive.

Anyway, good luck to you. Wismec makes a good product.

It's not the best of ideas to charge the Predator through the usb anyway. It gets really hot, and doesn't balance charge properly. In fact, many multiple-battery mods still don't have proper balance charging.

Hmmm, there are soooooooooo many.

But considering staying in the Wismec Predator price range the Smoant Battlestar is a good all round work horse, it's easy to recommend this mod, most do, nice and compact, solid build, TC is pretty good too, instantly fires, can't go wrong.

The new Wismec Gen 3 is also probably their best to date, that's if your not put off by their other......not so good mods and this is a triple 18650 but is worth mentioning just for it's compact size. Both of those mods were posted above by KD.

There is also the Smoant Charon, another good mod, or if your looking for something lightweight, there's the Tesla WYE.

Smok mods - Alien, Smok GX2/4, Smok T Priv, although the paint did chip on mine but it works, TC could be better on them.

Another nice dual 18650 is the Eleaf Ikonn 220w, screen is a little dull but it's a good mod, firmware update could fix that.

There's the Sigelei Fuchai Duo 2/3, centered 510 and can fit 30mm tanks or the Sigelei KAOS Spectrum...

Voopoo drag, ignore the name ha, they do a resin version.....

In saying all that, personally, if I wanted one myself I would still go with either a Asmodus Minikin V2, battery life is amazing and a good mod, max of 25mm tanks but is slightly more expensive or the trusty Battlestar.

Going up in price there are obviously the Yihi and DNA chips/mods to consider.

The list goes on and on in this flooded market.

@Rooodie A bit of background into what mods you like might make it easier to recommend some to you because there are just way too many to list.

Agreed

I still stay, never charge any 18650 batteries via USB in the mod, no matter what new tech they say is in there, you simply cannot beat the safety and piece of mind of a external charger. Better to buy a 4 bay charger and some extra batteries, charge them up and pop them in a plastic 18650 box to take with you.

The only time I use USB is on my DNA lipo mods, cause well, some are sealed inside.
