This is a first generation Lavatube. It is likely an original L-Rider Lavatube, but even if it isn't it's probably just as good.

There is absoultely nothing wrong with this unit. I've had one since the beginning of the year and it's worked fine.
There are 2 things you have to keep in mind with these. If you don't expect more than they are advertised as providing, you won't be among the whiners who gave this unit a lot of hate when they first came out.

First off, the current limit is 2.5 amps. This is so that noobs don't burn out LR coils trying to use a 1.5ohm carto at 5 Volts. If you try that it will automatically provide 3.7V, but the display will still read 5 Volts. 5V / 1.5ohm = 3.33 Amps. That exceeds 2.5 Amps. 3.7V / 1.5 ohms = 2.47 Amps. That is within the 2.5 amp limit.

So, the best thing to do is to use SR or approx. 3 ohm devices, exclusively. That will allow you to use the full range of available voltages without exceeding the 2.5A current limit. Do NOT use 3ohm Dual Coil anything. 3ohm Dual Coil cartos have two 3 ohm coils inside, but they are wired in parallel, so they present a total of 1.5 ohms to your APV. The Lavatube, and any other APV, will treat them like 1.5 ohm cartos. It will cut your voltage to 3.7V. That will effectively cut your wattage in half. Rule of thumb: Stick to about 3ohms. There's no need to buy low or high resistance anything.

Second thing to remember is despite the mfg's claims to the contrary, they do drop off in power as the battery depletes. It isn't radical until the battery gets pretty low. I generally do not run my battery below about 3.7V. This gives me an easy 10 hours or more and I don't really notice any power dropoff.

Other than that, it's a great device for that price. It's a giant step up from a Twist, or any disposable VV for that matter. It's tougher than it looks. It's aluminum with plastic covers on the aluminum top and bottom caps. I drop mine daily on wood floors and it hasn't broken yet.

Just get an extra battery, don't run it below 3.7V and stick with SR heads and you'll have no real complaints.

3ohm Dual Coil cartos have two 3 ohm coils inside, but they are wired in parallel, so they present a total of 1.5 ohms to your APV.

This does get confusing, but all of the dual coil cartos that I have
seen would list this as a 1.5 ohm rating.

If a DC carto is rated at 3 ohms, it has two 6 ohm coils in parallel.

Thanks Saliorman - appreciate all the great info - will get one and try it out. But I too have read (as dragginfly said) a dual coil would double the resistance - so a 3ohm dual coil would be a 6 ohm - but then again I just started vaping and dont know a whole lot. I think this will definitely be a step up from my 1100mah Kgo.....thanks again.....

I just bought this! You posted it on the other thread and it looked like a good deal so I jumped on it.

Did you bought the v1.0, the one going for $39+? If you received it can you give me your opinion on it because I want to get one as I am getting bored with my Twists :)

Thanks

I ordered the LT V2: Variable Voltage MyGo Electronic Cigarette
It is a Young June version, with the atomizer resistance measurement. Also, it is only $5 more than the V1.
Use "switch" coupon code for 10% off and it is free shipping since it is $50 before the discount.
I opted for the 3.5 ml Vivi Nova. The complete kit for $45 out the door, which I think is a steal.
The only thing with the V2 is I can't use my Stardust since it does not have a drip well.

Thanks for the reply. I believe it is a steal as well.

The Stardust have the same connection type as the kanger t2 right? I think you'll need one of this to use it - MyGo Adapter | 510 Extender for using eGo Tank Attachments

But I'm no expert so correct me if I'm wrong.

Another thing, what does this mean: "The max working current is up to 1.5 amps." It's on the v1.0 description.

Thanks

I registered and added the v2 and some other stuff to the cart - and then backed off. Does a VV really make that much of a difference in vaping? I mean - the higher the volts, the higher the ohms one has to use - so really what is the difference? Based on a chart I saw on another post seems like a 2 ohm at 4 volts would be the same as 4.5 ohms at 6 volts. It seems to me the result is the same. My 1100mah KGO seems to be working fine - should I purchase a couple more batts instead? Or am I really not understanding this VV vaping and should click "buy" on the v2?

I ordered the V2 started kit yesterday. After playing around with my new ego twist the last week, I really appreciate the ability to change voltage depending on what vape I want, starting low in the morning and gradually increasing over the course of the day. I've been using my Vivi Nova and Phoenix clone on the ego twist and I am really liking the control that VV gets me. I can't wait to try even higher volts when this kit comes in. And the fact that this v2 also checks resistance means I won't have to rely on my crappy multimeter. I would have preferred a smaller VV mod, like a mini LT, but for $45, or the cost of 2 ego twists, shipped for everything I need, I couldn't afford not to jump on this.
