So I found some green panasonic cgr18650a batteries in my house(I'm guessing from a laptop battery pack since it's the only thing in my house that would use these) And need to know if these mystery batteries are gonna be safe to use. Just ordered my first vaporizer that doesn't come with a built in battery so I have no clue except that it needs a 18650 battery.

Idk if there is a forum for battery questions so go ahead and move this if necessary :) thanks for any advice

Chipotle.
No, they are not safe to use as you're not aware of how many charge cycles they have already been through nor how old they truly are. The battery is the engine of your vaporizer and is one of the utmost important factors in providing a safe and satisfying vaping experience, if you could give some more specifics about the setup you're going to be using it will be decidedly easier to suggest a battery for your purposes.

I found a rating of 3.8A max continuous discharge on these on one website. You're using a Sigelei 30w. From the Steam Engine battery drain calculator, that mod at 30 watts will draw around 11A with an almost depleted battery and around 8A at 4.2V. Not safe at all! Plus as Froth said, you don't know what condition they're in so it could be worse than that if that's even possible ;)

Samsung 25R are available from Illumination Supply for $6 a piece. Great batteries and good to 20A continuous.

Hope this helps.
