This is my first temp control box mod. I noticed there are several settings on the sigelei. I am looking to preserve the one coil I have on my OBS so that I don't have to buy coils at the local vape store at an inflated price. I noticed the features of the sigelei are as follows;

  • Variable Wattage Operating Range: 10.0W – 150.0W
  • Atomizer Resistance Range: 0.1Ω – 3Ω
  • Output Voltage: 1.0 – 7.5V
  • Joule Range: 10J – 100J
  • Temperature Control Ranger: 100℃-300℃ / 212°F-572°F
Obviously I should keep the wattage operating range on the lower end, I presume. The atomizer resistance range correlates with the atomizer I already have in the OBS tank, I presume. Also the temperature control range shouldnt be a preservation factor (not 100% sure though) because this is just the temperature at which the vape is released/tasted? I am not positive about where I should stay on the output voltage, joule range, or temperature control range so as to make sure this one atty lasts me about a week. (To be on the safe side should I stay on higher or lower end of each/which function?) Any help, as always is greatly appreciated. :)

    What kind of coil? You won't actually control all of those, it depends on the type of coil. If you run it in wattage mode, that is the only thing that you will set, if you have a TC coil and run in TC mode, you won't set wattage, and you don't actually ever set an Output Voltage. That is determined by the mod relative to the wattage.

    Best advice for making the coil last regardless of settings is probably to be sure you prime it well, and never let the tank run dry.

    By the way, I'm fairly new to vaping so I hope my advice is correct, but if I'm wrong there are many knowledgeable people here that will correct me :)

    I am not sure of the type of coil, as I got a good deal on the OBS, (from a friend who just vaped 0 nicotine juice for flavor and eventually stopped,) and it came with one unmarked backup coil. I presume it is either .25 or .5 ohm because those are the ones I see for sale with most prevalence. So Jouls and Wattage are just different standards of measurement for the same concept, correct? (BTW the tank/coil has been soaking up juice for a couple days now and is well primed.) Just waiting for batts to charge. I am going to casino this weekend and don't wanna blow it out and be stuck with my pen. :(

    In temp control mode, you would set the desired temp, and then the joules. Joules basically controls how fast the coils heat up to the temp that you set. Once fully heated, the power will cycle to maintain that temp, or more precisely to avoid going over that temp. But temp control should only be used if you know what kind of coil you have. In wattage mode, the only thing you set is the wattage, and it will put out that many watts the entire time you hold the fire button.

    As @dcfluegel mentioned, if it is ni200 then it can be used with TC. Some mods allow other materials as well, such as titanium and even stainless steel. I'm not familiar with the Sig so can't say for certain if it is able to use anything other than the nickel coils. Kanthal coils can definitely NOT be used in TC mode.

    coil says "DC 0-.25" i presume thats the ohms. other side says 5w-50w. here come pics, I can take more if these aren't good enough
    Yes, the .25 would be ohms (the resistance of the coil) the wattages listed on the other side are the range the coil is rated for. Start low, and slowly increase the wattage until you are getting a vape that you like. Does it really say 5w-50w? 5w seems extremely low, I wouldn't think you will get anything out of it at that wattage.
