I've been vaping since July of '13, and have gone through a somewhat "normal" progression with gear. Started with an ego c twist and vivi nova topper, upgraded to an mvp2, picked up an igo-l to learn how to build coils, jumped on a Russian 91%, dove into mech mods, RDAs and the sub-ohm basement, and finally made my way to the high-powered vv/vw arena. Throughout this time, I've experienced awesome vape quality from every single setup, but have always wanted "more".

Well, no longer. I found my personal best setup yesterday, and it has been blowing (vaping?) my mind ever since. It's unlike any vape I've experienced, with a balance of warmth, thickness, flavor, and throat hit. Here we go:

Ipv3
Mutation X RDA (set to 3 airholes per side)
Dual 24ga coils, 7 wraps each on 1/8" bit, .34 ohms
Rayon wick
6 mg VG juice
Power set to 70 watts (4.9v)

This thing hits me like a truck. A one- or two-second pull does the trick every time. I'm completely sold, and will keep this build on hand from here on out. I'll still use other devices and builds, of course, but now I can always come back to this one.

I'm interested to hear other similar experiences. Has anyone else reached the top of their own personal vaping mountain? It doesn't matter if it's an ego with a clearo/carto/tank or some crazy stacked 26650 .0001 ohm RDA nightmare build or anything in between. Let's talk about perfection!

Yep, been there, done that.

Trouble is, from the top of one mountain there is always a higher one in the distance.

Congrats on your success.

Isn't that the truth! I've been saying "ahhhhhh it doesn't get better than this" over and over since I started. ;). Congrats until the next mountain op!

I use different builds and RDAs all the time. I don't remember what I have in my mutation, but I think it is a similar build, probably with 1 or 2 less wraps though and around a smaller diameter for a lower resistance. I use mech mods, though.

But I like 24 gauge too. It is what I most often use.

The builds I have been using today though are my Tugboat, which has a dual 24 gauge sleeper coil at 6 wraps. .21 ohms puts also puts out around 90 watts.
And my onslaught which is three 5 wrap 24 gauge coils. .15 ohm puts it close to 120 watts.

They are great.

I'm actually vaping my Dark Horse now though, which is really a 'just for fun' build. But it is a dual 24 gauge parallel sleeper coil. 5 wraps around my multimeter probe (probably around 3/32 or 5/64). Clocks in at .09, so its putting out about 200 watts. This think lights up juice way to fast to use for extended periods, so I vape it slowly and use other RDAs in-between. This one chucks ridiculous clouds.

I'm getting there went from a corner store ego with B&M juice, to a Lavatube v2.5 with a Naut full/Mini vaping Nicoticket, then onto a mech with an RDA and am now waiting on a Reos/RM4. I haven't found the perfect vape but I think I am getting really close. I've only been vaping about 4 weeks but I have that OCD personality that if I pick up any hobby I go overboard fast.

My lungs are happy I am not smoking but my wallet hurts from all the hopping around trying it all.

yup ... I hear ya ... when you find your perfect vape setup ... then add in several DIY ADVs.

it really is much cheaper and more enjoyable than smoking

I haven't tried the rayon yet. What's it like? I have always used cotton, lately the japanese variety, and I never liked silica or ekowool...

I had been wrapping dual 24ga, 5 wraps each at .35 or so. Yesterday I got a fused clapton coil from kent (twisted messes...). I'm running it single in a vertex and it runs at .18 by itself (LOL!). It's good, but I think my plain duals were my best vape so far.

That's what keeps me so interested, with analogs it was light and smoke. But with vaping I can build, wick, tinker, and enjoy the vape when I'm done. That appeals to my personality more than smoking ever did. Not to mention I never had any conversations with other smokers like I do here with the vape crowd, it sounds kind of silly but it's an all encompassing experience with people of a like minded attitude.

I completed the journey you describe from 7/15 to 10/13. (As I sit vaping on my Mutation X on my IPV3 (i skipped the Ego step)

I love building and tinkering with things. I started off with a logic rechargable, ego, mvp2, dna30, then mechs. Now im picking up a ipv v2s tomorrow. I just went from keeping all my (what my fiance calls) crap in a cardboard shoebox to a plano softside camo box and it keeps all my goodies in an organized setup. Right now im vaping my oil rig comp mech with a clt dual parallel 0.1 ohm 26 gauge build with japanese cotton. Loving every second with it!

On my 30 watt box, I've recently learned that I prefer a 1.8 ohm coil. I can still get the higher wattage, but my coils have more surface area (self built dual coil in an aerotank mega). Prior to that I was building them at .7 ohm.
On the other hand, my vape nirvana on my kayfun is at 1 ohm
Sent with one hand, the other is busy vaping.
