Name Says It All: e-Cig or Vaporizer

This may belong in the legislation area more than the n00b section, but I'm still a n00b, so may the forum Gawds bare with me - feel free to move if necessary.

Has there been much talk about moving away from calling it an e-cigarette to something like vaporizer instead? It just seems that it will much more difficult to distinguish the art of vaping from cigarettes if we continue to call them e-cigarettes. It seems counter-productive - even though I realize the draw of calling it that was for marketing and because it was (and mostly is) aimed at analog smokers. But will we ever move on?

I never refer to mine as an ecig anymore. It's an APV. Although I still call the cigarette sized ones e cigs.

Well being new to the vaping world, and wondering at what point I will encounter "discrimination" I am ready to defend my vaping and make the distinction between it and the EVIL smoke. lol I'm going to refer to my as a vaporizer. If someone that doesn't need to know asks me what's in it - I will tell them it's my medication that is necessary to keep me from going crazy and possibly becoming violent - and then take a big swig off of it with bulging eyes.

Different people call it different things. e-cig, mod, PV (Personal Vaporizer), Vaporizer, APV (Advanced Personal Vaporizer). My personal favorite, and what I call mine...atleast when we are alone together is "Beloved".

Overkill? Perhaps....but who cares right?

Overkill? Nah not at all. No really I find people to be quite inquisitive. I do get strange looks with my provari + tank but oh well. I just explain it's the future of smoking. A safer alternative. It is after all the digital age. I'm guessing the iPhone 6 might have an optional 510 adapter.

I have settled into referring it to vaping. I agree that the e-Cig thing does put too much emphasis on traditional smoking or what I have recently heard referred to as analog cigarettes.

All joking aside, the more you explain what you have and what you are doing, the more service you are doing for this vaping community. I know some times I feel like explaining it, and sometimes I don't...so sometimes I go into alittle more detail than others. And it depends on the person who's asking also.

And Dantes, being a Provari/tank user myself, I've found that a strange look back often does the trick!
