I know I have to quit smoking and there is no "middle ground" for it. But for now, I am trying to experience it while i still do smoke. Then slowly get off smoking and then quit altogether.

I have ordered the ego twist kit. I will order the remaining options when stocks are available.

Excellent, good for you! Don't forget a variety of e-liquid flavours at 2 or 3 diff. nic levels.

I agree with Jazzi totally. VV is a great step up for some people as are some of the more advanced cartos and tanks and various cores on atomizers, while others find out it makes no difference and they keep the voltage at the same level as would be in a non VV, don't find a difference in experience from coil numbers or locations and can't taste a difference when they try a carto over others, so basically spent a whole lot more to see the battery read out the voltage and a fancy attachment.

I know the long term vapers have been through the hassle of buying and trying and have found what they love when it comes to vaping but everyone is different and someone else can't vape for you. Just like with analogs and their brands - one is loved by someone and they think everyone should smoke them but someone else likes theirs. Its even more so in the vaping community and even with great advice and ideas of what some people have/use/enjoy you still need to find you own way at least somewhat.

You might take to vaping like a pro and want more or different or better for you and then all the advice you read from people telling you you should get this or that because it does this or that for them helps you decided what direction to go, but you have to have some baseline knowledge first. That baseline is just a basic setup that does not nail their pocketbook and then you ahve a cliff to leap off of.

Nothing worse for a smoker then to feel like something is making you "have to" use an alternative. Its one big turn off from putting down the analog. If you spend 70-100 dollars outfitting yourself and find you are someone who does not take to the alternative quickly you can be sitting there eye that monster that is making you feel guilty about spending money and not using it and feeling defeated twice over. Or you decide you like most of it but something is not quite there and while there is advice out there about what will meet your need you already spent a bunch of money on something you may be iffy about you are leery about spending more and that not being the answer. And there is always a chance that you could be one of a few that just can't move away from analogs at this time and get angry about e-cigs because of the money invested in something that did not work right now.

"Try it, you will like it" may or may not work with everyone and every device and setup because everyone is so different, analog experience were so different that people come to the vaping table with a wide variety of expectations and no clear idea where to start and/or go. The only way to know what is best for you is to start with the simple.

A good basic, and not costly entry level starter kit like a cheap ego-c. You can use that with trying out different types of atomizers and dialing in to what works best for you as well as dialing in on techniques and flavors of juice. And while many find that being able to vary the voltage on a battery makes for an experience they like, others don't and you get, as Jazzi says, a paper weight. That expensive tank someone suggested you start with is going to be a useless investment if it turns out that you get what you are looking for from a bottom coil instead of a top one, or a single coil instead of a dual and so on.

Its better to have the basics that you can willing put aside to move up to stuff that is more pricey then finding you paid 20 dollars for a tank that as far as you can tell does just as much as that 5 dollar clearomizer. Better to decide that the 5 dollar clearomizer isn't doing it for you and then take advice from people who can tell you how they found something to work, and how, and see if it sounds like what you are looking for and then spend the money.

And don't be afraid to ask why. Someone suggestion to 'I have this rig and thats what you should get' can't be too helpful. Don't be afraid to ask why you should have it. What are their preferences and are they like yours? If you don't ask you might not know and buy it and find out that the draw is very warm and you don't like that - but the person that suggested it loves a warn draw,,, but you did not know that.

I have never looked back at my first ego from a blister pack in a store display and ever whine about the day I spent that $25 dollars. I still use it often, even though I have moved up just a bit, and spend money on some pricier models but that inexpensive set up gave me a good starting point so I knew what it felt like to vape compared to analogs and what I was missing and needed to find if anything. Actually, I could still be making it just fine on that setup if there was nothing more to 'upgrade too' but I tend to like toys a bit too. That basic ego was my battery for sometime while I had a chance to decide from other people's reviews if there was an atomizer set up or carto or bottom or top or single or dual coil that would give me anything more than I already had a liked. I finally found what worked great for me and was happy there.

Since that time I have played the 'hobby' part and sometimes found things I liked a lot and was glad I tried but also found my own paperweight experience. Had I started out with VV I would probably still use it but not for the reason it is a VV, but just as a battery with a stead voltage. Even after I went to a costly brand name VV I have found that I so infrequently even notice that I can change the voltage, and never feel the need to and never adjust it to a voltage over what my ego-c has I do ask myself why I bought it - but I am glad I did not start with one.

My quitting was easy without being expensive so I know you don't have to have the top of the line to give you everything you need to take to the vaping alternative and not look back. I was a 2 pack a day smoker (for more years than I care to mention) who loved to smoke and fought against ever quitting. Had vaping not been a 100% experience for me it never would have happened but I was very able to get that experience without draining the bank on startup costs.

Thanks, for all the advice folks. I currently have ordered a 10 ml tobacco flavor and a 10 ml coffee flavor. Both 12mg nicotine options.

Very well said stormwench. I am definately not an expert, im just a noob, but heres my experience. I have smoked a pack a day for about 10 years, I quit for 9-10 mths a couple times but always got sucked back in, Just a couple months ago I was talking to another smoker friend about how I wished there was an alternative to smoking that didnt make you unhealthy and eventually kill you (I had only heard of Blu at that point and had been told some bad misinformed info by someone about e-cigs being worse than analogs) I really enjoy the act of smoking but I know I need to quit. Unfortunately every attempt has failed. Vaping is what I was looking for to replace it!

So about a month later I was introduced to the world of e-cigs. I was blown away! I saved up some money and just ordered a blister pack ego kit and 3 flavs of juice on friday (coca-cola 18mg, rum 18mg and strawberry 0mg) While I was saving up some money I bought a Blu on a whim because I had never tried vaping. Everyone has said that blus taste really bad but I absolutely loved it! I finished 4 analogs I had before I opened the Blu, I didnt smoke another analog until the Blu ran out 8 hours later, and I was sorely disappointed when it ran out. I didnt want to go back to analogs. they are gross.

The blister pack I ordered was an ego style battery and it has 3 diff power settings (I cant remember what they are right now but heres a link eGo 650mAh w/ CE4 Clearomizer Blister Pack Starter Kit - MyFreedomSmokes.com

It cost me around $20 with shipping. I also ordered 2 extra clearomizers. All together with the juice and all I spent about $50. I basically took my smoking budget for the next 2 weeks and bought a vape. For $50 I got a variable voltage ego, 2 extra clearomizers and 63ml of juice. (the site I got the juice from gives a free 3ml sample of a flavor to try with every flavor purchased) VERY fast shipping too, I ordered it friday morning and its on the mail truck to be delivered at 3 pm today, all the way from Atlanta GA. to Montana.

Im so excited! Im watching the clock. After trying a Blu, I know as soon as that vape is in my hand with some coca-cola juice, I will probably never pick up an analog again. I have wanted to quit smoking so bad for so long, but the habit just kept getting worse and worse. thank goodness for vaping! I will still have something to enjoy with no sickness and death involved :vapor:
