Hello everyone! I've been a smoker for a few years and need to quit (can't afford it). Not the best way to quit I know but with a little help it may be possible. I had my doctor prescribe me some nicotine patches which I started today (7mg, trying to get a higher dose) in hopes that it will help. I'm aware that I can't (or shouldn't rather) wear the patch while smoking or using an e-cig with nicotine and won't be doing that.

Moving on, I quit smoking in the past back in 2009ish and used an electronic cigarette to do it. So here we come to my question. I have a M401 e-cig, the Bumble Bee edition. My cartridges ran out years ago and it seems that the website I bought it from doesn't exist anymore. I do still have some of the cartridges and was looking inside them and it seems that they just have some fuzz inside that was once moist. Is it possible to buy some other brand of e-cig nicotine liquid (or one with no nicotine) and just put a few drops in?

This is what my cartridges look like (except they are black, not tan, and the company logo is actually the same as what I bought years back, even the box looks the same...:?:, it wasn't called S'moore, was called Diet Smokes):

I think they are gone. Here are some links to good quality cig-a-like units. You can cut costs further by refilling the cartomizers with bottle liquid.

Hi and Welcome to ECF!

You can certainly refill the cartridges you have. Being so old - Im guessing they may either taste a little funky to start with - and they will burn out eventually. It would be a good idea to get more blanks to have on hand if you are able. I have never used this vendor, but I found m401 blank carts here https://www.sharp-smoker.com/M401-M...es-p/m401-fslash-m402blackblankcartridges.htm pretty inexpensive and you can refill these more than once as long as you dont vape it super dry and burn the filler.

Good luck on your journey!

Thank you for the link. :)

I got some liquid today. I sampled about 10+ flavors in store but finally settled on their version of "tobacco." The rest all tasted like schnapps reminding me of my days in college with too much booze. :p I'm pretty sure I'd get tired of the super sweet flavors real fast so I'm going to need to look into some more savory type flavors I guess. Some sort of pipe tobacco sounds good but the store I went to didn't have any.

I'm doing a search on the site for "refilling cartridges" yet seem to hit multiple threads and aren't what I'm looking for (even got a link back to my thread here :p). If anyone knows of a specific thread that talks about cleaning and refilling the cartridges I have that would be awesome (or even what section of the forum I should look through?). I'm going to search the forum for "cleaning cartridges" next and if I don't see anything then I may try to see if there might be a youtube video about it.

Ya I may need to buy a whole new e-cig because of the battery issue. It came with two so you could charge one while using the other. Thing is that the cartridges are so small, it likely won't last long making me need the other battery and constantly need to switch back and forth. The one I tried the sample liquids with seemed pretty cool and held a lot of liquid. Also, it didn't hurt to use it. Granted the liquid that was in the old cartridges from back in the day may have simply been super harsh or something (they came in high, medium, low and no nicotine) yet the one I used today was just like smoking from a hooka, felt like nothing (there was no nicotine so maybe that's why?). So I'm not sure if it's the liquid or if maybe the e-cig that I bought years ago really wasn't a good one to begin with.

One of the batteries seems like it's not really working. It says that it's charged but it's not lighting up. :( The other one seems to work ok though. I'll have to work with what I've got for now though cause I can't buy a new e-cig until some more money rolls in, maybe next week.

Also I'm curious about the nicotine dose. The liquid I bought today has 6mg of nicotine. I would smoke about 1/2 a pack, sometimes more but usually less than a whole pack per day. The guy at the shop suggested I try 6mg as the higher doses are meant for people who smoked a pack and a half or more. Is that correct?

Man I wish my cartridges were like his, it looks so easy. :p I guess his second method is all I can really do. Just had to sit here and drip it in. So far though it only took in 10 drops. The filter in the one he was using is completely different from the filter in mine. Mine looks real cheap cause it's not tightly woven, it's just loose fuss like you might find in a torn up cat or dog toy. Well, hopefully it'll work out for at least a week. :p

Little update. Apparently my old e-cig doesn't want to work at all really. The batteries decided to not work properly (they weren't working earlier but decided to just now work... well I don't want to deal with something that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't) so my husband bought me a new e-cig. It's one of the cheap ones to help get me started (EGO CE4 Clearomizer 650mAh). I took it back after I bought it cause it wasn't working yet I was sure there was probably just some cryptic code to turn it on that I didn't know about. The clerk said, "did you press the button 5 times? It's the norm for e-cigs these days." Well not when I bought mine 5+ years ago, there's no button on mine at all. The package doesn't even say anything about needing to turn it on. Would have been nice to know that when I bought it and told you that I'm just starting out... :p

Oh well. Anyway it works alright. Eventually I'll probably buy a better one and more flavors but will do research first so I get something that's worth buying. The vapor dries out my throat and the upper portion of my lungs a bit which makes me cough so I've been trying smaller drags until I get used to it I guess. I've been switching back and forth from a cigarette to using the e-cig every time I smoke to help me get used to having to switch to the e-cig. I only have 3 cigarettes left so hopefully I'll be able to use the e-cig exclusively.

Thanks for everyone's help. :)
