NANO keeps breaking

Hi All,

SO I have been a long time SI vaper now and have pretty much tried everything they have. Right now I have 3 x2 batts, one spinner, one 78mm, T3's, CE3's, NANOs, X2 clearos, and several other odds and ends. So far SI has been great with sending replacements and figuring out whats wrong with some of their stuff. I am used to the quirks with Ce3's...breakage, leakage, dry hits every once in a while, as well as the clearos and T3's. The problem I have is a serious one with the Nanos. I have gone through probably 6-8 of these things and while they work fine when vaping them, they break all the time, and there is no repair I have found that can fix it. What happens with them on my X2's with a cone attached is that they come loose at the base where the plastic tank meets the metal. Then they start to leak and eventually just completely spill out. I have tried like heck to repair these by pushing the plastic back on, twisting, disassembling, etc...to no avail. HAS anyone else had this issue with these? Its not like they are very expensive but for a reusable Carto/mini tank they are not cheap when they break after putting them in a pocket once to find out they broke yet again. Sorry for the Rant SI but I just want to know that this is not something I am doing or if these are just simply accident prone...ie bending over in a pair of jeans just barely makes the seal come loose or something. Love the products SI but really frustrated with the nano breakage.

The problem with the Nano is that the plastic barrel is a press fit onto the metal base and that is what keeps it sealed. It is not a very durable method of sealing, prone to any torque induced by a heavy battery, especially and X2 even with a cone. There is no way to fix it that I have found, although I gave up on the Nano after the original two I bought failed right out of the box with horrendous flavor. Other people love them because they are easy to fill and they haven't experienced the "vaping burned socks" effect. If you really like them I would suggest using them only on 78mm batteries to reduce the stress on that weak joint.

Yet I probably have about 20 of these and have never had a problem. You do have to treat them a little more careful though. I had one attached to a 650 and it went flying out of my pocket when I was putting my jacket on right onto a concrete floor and still works perfectly.

2 component clear epoxy might solve this.

The problem there is to get the epoxy into the right spot to hold things solidly the Nano has to come apart. They only come apart destructively from what I can see. It might help to put epoxy around the joint at the base where the plastic barrel and metal base meet, but I don't think it would help all that much. There's too little area for the epoxy to work effectively. The Nano is designed as an inexpensive throw-away and works best as such.

I have a smoke colored Nano with 100% VG juice in it and no problems so far after my 2nd fill. I just bought another 3.... red, blue, and purple. If I encounter any problems with them I will post em here!

Step one: Mix epoxy
Step two: apply epoxy on the metal
Step three: press the plastic on the metal and wipe excess epoxy.
Step four:Wait 5 minutes

Step five: vape

You're assuming, always dangerous LOL, that you can get the plastic up off the metal without damaging anything. The way the Nano is constructed that is problematic because the rest of the assembly comes up with the barrel and getting everything back, just right, becomes a real problem.

I think that Awsum and I are soured on the Nano a bit. I don't know if they have made any improvements but I am not interested in buying more. Out of the 10 I bought, opened 3 and had issues with every one of them. I had one that started spinning at the base, where the plastic met the base and I emptied it quickly. The tip came off of another and the taste in that one and another one were just too much to keep.

Personally, I didn't see a way to fix anything on it and if you wanted to use epoxy, I would assume you would need to have a really, really steady hand considering that the picture above is about five times the size of the actual Nano.

Yeah I have tried to press fit it back. Tried a little gorilla glue, etc etc and none of it really holds in the end plus I really dont want to vape epoxy or glue....

Fact of the matter is that one slight torque on the top of these if they are connected to a X2 and done. I pains me because I will have it working well with a good flavor then I bend over and just know in my head I have just broken the nano. I kind of like the set and forget type of delivery device but these are just way too accident prone. I have yet to have one just stop working other than the seal just breaking. Its just a flawed design imo. When they work they work pretty well for a small carto tank and maybe someone is right as said before they are probably better suited for a 78mm if you make sure and dont bend them at all in your pocket. I wont be buying anymore of these from any vendor and am really enjoying the T3's now from SI.

NO gorrila or any kind of acrylic. You won't vape anything besides the stupid taste of the nano, it doesn't touch the coil or comes in contact with the inside of the nano.
The First series of the CE3 were the best because you can actually rebiold them very fast. The second generation suck and the nano suck even more.
Haven't tried the T3 but i believe they will be better.
Or get the standard carto which is 100% reliable.

The T3 is very rebuildable. I haven't done one yet since I haven't worn out any coils yet, but I am getting some Kanthal and wick material so I can just keep them going like Energizer Bunnies!

I have the T3 and I like it, even more with the spinner. The plugging of the air holes thing can be a very slight bother but not enough to stop using the thing. I get gurgles but no actual leak yet. They are quite durable and if not for the large capacity, that I tire of at some point.....I would consider carrying it around and sometimes do. I just get bored of a flavor after about 1ml.

Rebuilding is just too much. If I can buy a replacement head for $3 and just change that; I think I would be fine. Keeping wicks and all other kinds of mess around is just more than I really want to mess with. I have run one coil for at least 2-3 weeks now and no problem.

I heard someone whispering......in a land...... far, far away about mini T3s. If they become a reality and they work as well as the T3 does, I may finally have a replacement for the CE3........maybe
