It's a secret!
There is some truth and value in them. I saw the one on the 10 plagues. Actually I agree on most of what was said at least in theory. Friend of mine was jumping up and down saying the plagues were miracles. Only problem with that, is that miracles don't take 9 months evolve. God is sovereign and works in, around and through nature. The overall tone of the program left much to be desired. It was in tone, made to seemingly dispel that God had any part but the methodology of the events are very good.

If you and eHuman are referring to the archeological evidence for the exodus show, I thought it was very well done, and didn't take away from what God did or could have done ... in most cases that is. That show was about proving how the Bible was right... so I didn't have a problem with it. Just because we can see evidence of what God did, or how he did it through nature, does not invalidate that God did it. At least that is true most of the time.

The only issue I DID have with that show is their explanation for the parting of the waters. The explanation they gave was certainly UN-biblical as it required a retreating of the waters (as happens with a tsunami) and then a tsunami to wash away the Egyptians. That doesn't jive with the Biblical account, so I did certainly take issue with that explanation.

Could God not have did it this way? Hebrew writing is really vague and it seemed the producers were looking for an explanation from modern science. We'll never know for certain. It's kind of like the fire and cloud that led the Israelites. The image of the Hebrew writing would lead us to believe in something different from what it actually was. It was thought provoking whether we agree with it or not. It caused me to go back and study...always a good thing.

Edit: Let's remember that the people on this show are highly educated. Their work is in Biblical archeology not in preaching, teaching and the salvation of souls. We would balk at anything we felt detrimental to someone's salvation. Their job is not to convince one of anything or attempt to convict anyone toward or away from salvation. Their field and work is in uncovering and attempting to explain what they have uncovered.

Yeah, eHuman beat me too it. I enjoy watching these type shows, but rarely can finish an episode. They so rarely get the actual Biblical accounts of events correct... that's the first clue that they're not really in it for the "truth".

They also have a really bad habit of presenting complete speculation and assumption as actual "fact". Their starting point is not to see if/how the Bibilical accounts could have been correct. Rather, their starting point is that the Bible had to have gotten it wrong, so what was "really" going on.

This is a valid point. I do believe however, some of these tactics to derail the truth end up pointing many 'to' it. God works in mysterious ways (as we all know) and I strongly believe He saves using methods that were originally intended for evil. "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "The Last Temptation of Christ" are two glowing examples. While Christianity felt both of these works were blasphemous in much of their content.. I did hear of thousands who got saved because they portrayed Christ's 'humanity' in a manner they more personally identified with, unlike traditional methods had. I know, they both were not Biblically accurate accounts of the life or teachings of Christ... but I feel God 'used' them because evil people used them for evil intents... so He turned them around for His Glory... but, by the same token, God doesn't want 'us' to use inaccurate accounts to further His Gospel. He knows 'we' should know better and not resort to those types of tactics.

LOL...It kills me when people take 1 account of something and discount 100 other accounts of the same thing.

YOU guys do realize EVERYTHING you think right NOW is enough to get your head chopped off by the POPE 500 years ago right????????

NOTHING we know and think about the bible would fly with the Roman Catholic Church of the 1500s. I want to know how many of you beat you wives weekly or have chopped the head off of a man who cheated on his wife? If you TALK to one divorced person you are going to hell....ok how about confessing to the crime of talking to a Jew??? How many of your Priest and pastors would tell you that ISNT a crime.

Time changes the bible people...whetether you like it or not.

How about just increasing you overall knowledge about God and his word and not being that old weirdo wandering the streets.... my 97year old mother in law still calls Blacks "negros" and says the Bible says its ok to whip them...and she can show you in her Bible where it says so.

and you woman best be starting my dinner and birthing my babies or Ill be getting the whip out....

sorry bad joke.

You're confusing "time changes the Bible" with the "Bible has changed the church". The Bible is the same, it's followers are not.

Just because some have mis-used the Bible does not invalidate the Bible itself.

Whew!... That's a relief... Thank you for the clarification Jason :)

Hold on there friend...

Are you telling me our age is the only age who understood what God wanted?

So please tell me at what Pope in time did this occur? So if I find you a passage that said an Apostle did or advises to do something we would find offensive...the Apostle is acting against Gods word...and therefore we must IGNORE the Bible...is that what you are telling me...think long and hard before you answer. Maybe you should talk to your congregation before you answer me.

here is a link so we both understand what we are talking about
http://www.bibletools.org/index.cfm/fuseaction/Bible.show/sVerseID/28568/eVerseID/28568

and which translation are we talking about please?

1 Corinthians 9:27 (King James Version) :: Forerunner Commentary :: Bible Tools

1 Corinthians 9:27 No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

ijax the first link is not working, would you mind just posting the verses for discussion? I think I see where you're going.....

Sorry, once again its too advanced a subject.

I am sorry I tried to educate this crowd once again..... I wrote a whole Theseus on how the Bible has changed over the 2000 years, but it would be too much for some of you to handle.

I will leave you with this. 99% of the scientific evidence found investigating and collating biblical text has increase the educated world of Christianity. If you want to call African-Americans "negros"...fine If you want to believe the Sun revolves around the Earth...fine. If you want to believe the Earth is flat...fine. The rest of the educated world will move forward in its understanding.

What I am watching now...Who killed Jesus. Its properly showing people that the Bible was changed to absolve Rome and condemn the Jews...which is the exact opposite of what happened. Everyone with a brain now understands Rome rewrote what happened... "To the Victor goes the pen"... "History is written by the winner" Rome snatched Jesus from a crowd and murdered him. They then blamed the Jews. Sure Jews were ...... at Jesus, but they would not have done what was done to Jesus. Jesus was tortured and killed the EXACT way 10,000 of other people Rome didn't like were. There was nothing Jewish about it. The whole "let his blood be on our hands and on our children's hands forever"...give me a break. To them he was a NOBODY, Jesus was a crazy goofball preacher. Why would the crowd say that? They wouldn't. It was added to get the heat off of Rome.

Sorry, I guess I"m just not educated enough or smart enough to understand it. I"m a peon, but Jesus loves me anyhow!

I'm right there with you sis....oh to be one blessed with superior knowledge, must be nice. But hey, tact is another virtue :p...

I don't think I'll be here anymore either. I am very intelligent. I would explain that but I don't figure most of you would understand it. Not sure how many of you can read but if you can read, please know that this is very complicated and since you are quite illiterate it probably won't make any sense. If it does make sense perhaps you have too much intelligence to be here. If that is the case, please don't try and explain it to anyone because they would not understand it.

LMAO....maybe you should have held back on that one SG...you could have used it for leverage on getting ijax to spill the "knowledge".

On a serious note ijax, why do you assume we will not understand? Do you see how degrading it is to have someone tell you that you just won't get it? Let's span the gap here brother.....now stop hoarding the good stuff and TALK!

So John 11:50 never happened?

I'd be interested in reading your "thesis".

John 11:50
KFV = Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.

BV = "Nor do you understand that it is better for you that one man should die for the people, not that the whole nation should perish."

NIN = You do not realize that it is better for you that one man die for the people than that the whole nation perish."

NLT = You don't realize that it's better for you that one man should die for the people than for the whole nation to be destroyed."

NAS = nor do you take into account that it is expedient for you that one man die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish."

GWB = You haven't even considered this: It is better for one man to die for the people than for the whole nation to be destroyed."

NLB = You do not see that it is in your interest for one man to be put to death for the people, so that all the nation may not come to destruction.

WEB = nor do you consider that it is advantageous for us that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish

Which one are you saying was the one God wrote?

and No I am not saying something like this was thought of in relation to the issue being described.

I am talking about Matthew 27:25 and you know I am. Dont try to change the subject. That line was added decades after Matthew was written. The whole washing his hands thing, the trying to give Jesus up as a passover forgiveness thing...all false. The tradition of freeing a criminal on passover is all false. The Roman tradition had nothing to do with passover and only removed leg irons from criminals. [ Barabbas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ] If you care to read actual history. The criminal the Jews wanted to free could have actually have been Jesus....read the wiki.

Sorry I didn't proof read....hiding behind my ignorance doesn't forgive yours. I love God enough to stay educated on the latest findings and investigations. I also stay abreast of the legal fight to get Christian scrolls released from private collectors and proper NON-BIAS translation of old text.
