Big fan of my nautilus and the mini.

However noticed recently that the bottom bit was full of brown and blackish gunk. Carefully pushed out the spring and pin, the spring on one was blackened, the other slightly. Also lots of gunk in and around th pin.

Cleaned up the bottom bit easily enough with cotton bud. Soaked the spring and pins in vodka - lots of black particles in the vodka not nice.

Note sure if rust/ corrosion or juice gunk build up?

Have ordered some replacement bottom pins from aspire.

Up to now I have been cleaning the bottom bit under running water every two or three tanks of juice, then just leaving on kitchen towel to dry. Worried this may have caused the rust/ corroding spring.

Gong forward how do people suggest I clean the bottom part to avoid any issues?

Perhaps remove spring and pin (to avoid getting water in there), clean and dry parts individually...certainly much easier to clean out the well in bottom part with them removed...

Two possibilities:
  1. Juice seeping through the coil into the base.
  2. You may have gotten a cloned Nautilus/mini.
There was a clone manufacturer that didn't use a very good quality of spring and pin that corroded easily a while back. Aspire had to field a bunch of complaints back then from people who thought it was Aspires fault. Those tanks were eventually found out to be clones, and not made by Aspire.

All my Nautiluses... Nautili? Is there a plural form of that? LOL! did that. It was just part of the cleaning ritual I did every month. And before anyone says it, all 3 of them were real. I think it's just the design. Some juice is going to gravitate to the lowest point and pool. It's gravity. And by some juice I mean not a lot just enough to make it necessary to clean it every now and then.
