Nautilus: what am I doing wrong?!

If I understand correctly, the measurement of power given to a coil is wattage. Voltage is what is changed to deliver more watts.

Variable wattage devices calculate the resistance of the coil to deliver the programmed amount of watts, which is in a way more automatic and more direct than variable voltage devices (some do both).

With variable voltage devices it is necessary to square the voltage and divide by the resistance to come up with watts (I am not sure if this is correct, recall).

A good rule of thumb guide and chart for the habitable zone of vaping can be found by googling "Volts & watts vs Ohm settings tasteyourjuice" (oops links restriction on my new account :( ). The rest is just time and experience :).

Thanks! I found one of the calculators, it might not be too scary...I was imagining needing a degree in electrical engineering or something!

I just opened up the coil I bought here in town a couple days ago, and I'm not sure if this is right...the guy at the shop gave me a BDC instead of a BVC...honestly I'd rather use the BDC than go back to that store...anyway. I have no idea what this thing is supposed to look like, and I want to make sure it's not defective before I load it up and start using it. This is exactly how it looked when I opened the package.

You dont like the bvc coil head??? I got my nautilus mini paired up on my e-Lvt on 9.5 watts amd it vapes like a friggin power house!

I think I just needed a different resistance, the stock coils didn't heat up enough. I didn't know the coil I got was BDC until I got home, and I've had bad enough service at that vape shop that I'd rather deal with it for a few days than go back to exchange it lol

Well that sucks, I work in a vape shop just me and the owner and we specialize in quality customer service. Are there any other vape shops around in your area dont waste time or money with shops that just want to sell you somthing and get you out the door

Oh yeah, there's another one down the road and I just found out I went to school with the owner. I was just trying to save a couple bucks and go to the other place, but I won't make that mistake again. It's worth paying the couple extra dollars for service.

Exactly! Also she cut me an EXCELLENT deal on this Nautilus at a convention, I was going to get the protank because I couldn't afford the Nautilus...she ended up giving me the tank plus 2 bottles of juice (they were buy one get one free) for less than the price of the tank. Now that I think about it I feel bad not going there for my coils! Oh well, live and learn :)

I've had my Nautilus, full size, for a while and just started using it again with the new BVC coils. I gave up on it within a week after buying it because of the bad BDC coils. Hated it. But with these new verticle coils, it works great. Lovin it now. I also read on the forums that its better to just snug the lower base to the glass when tightening it. Glad it's workin for u now. :D

Thanks for the info about just snugging the base, I'm a bit over-zealous and try to tighten it down as much as I can.

I've read various opinions everywhere...has anyone had any success cleaning the BVC coils? I clean and rewick my evod coils to save some money, it'd be awesome if I could clean (just clean, not rebuild or rewick) the BVCs as well since they cost more :)
