So Calif
I just signed the petition "NC House Judiciary Subcommittee B and Senate Health Care Committee: DO NOT PASS--NC HB 864/SB 630-Arbitrary Online E-Cig Sales Restrictions" on Change.org.

It's important. Will you sign it too? Here's the link:

http://www.change.org/petitions/nc-...pt&utm_medium=email&utm_source=share_petition

Where are all of the members of this forum when it comes to signing petitions? The above petition only has 315 signers. Spread the word among your non vaping friends and family that this will cut off your source of supply from online vendors. Sign it even if you are not in NC.

This is another RJR written bit of legislation. RJR needs to be smacked in the face with the fact that we do not agree to be hung out to dry to protect their distribution lines and profit margins. Wake up and smell the coffee, people !!

A few years ago I searched ECF for every person living in a certain area, and sent them a PM to alert them to pending legislation.

I used some kind of search function, which is either no longer available, or I can't figure out how I did it.
But basically, I searched the location field in the ECF member profiles.

In this instance, I would search for every member with "NC" as part of the location in their profile.

But again, I can't figure out how to do it anymore apparently.
Maybe that functionality is gone now.

I have some questions about this.

1. Non-residents helpful?

I wonder if this varies by state. I cannot imagine California legislators caring in the LEAST what out-of-staters say but we are arrogant here.

2. I've seen SO MANY online petitions since I signed my first one, I've gotten the impression that they don't really pay attention to them. I thought emails were supposed to be better and snail mails (except to Washington, where they get delayed since 9/11) even stronger. Does anybody have any info on this?

Which vendors are in NC? I know I'd panic if it were Georgia!

OMG! The Call To Action does not ask for out-of-state responses but I don't want to lose those vendors! Is there any argument I can make that will hold weight? "RJ Reynolds Wants Me Back as a Customer" ?

Where is RJ Reynolds headquartered, is there any chance NC prefers I go back to smoking?

Winston Salem, NC.

NC has a Republican controlled legislature as well as Governor.

They are supposed to be for small government so why are they creating another bureaucracy and getting into private lives!

e-gigs:
less harmful
not smoke or tobacco
no secondhand impacts
another avenue for quitting

I'm not sure if this bill is the same is NC Senate Bill 530 / House Bill 864. I think it is and unfortunately it has passed the Senate today. I had emailed ALL NC politicians stating my opposition to this Bill. Big Money talks I guess. FYI it will be a class2 misdemeanor to violate this when it becomes law 12/1/2013. Penalty includes possible jail time. It is also stated in the bill that NC police and local sheriffs will conduct 'sting' operations in attempt to catch violators. At the very end of the bill - it says that this bill was created so that North Carolina would not loose federal funds or grants. Welcome to the Machine...

Petitions from change.org are virtually worthless as the signatures cannot be verified. Most politicians tend to ignore things like that as being irrelevant because the petition is usually signed by countless individuals outside their jurisdiction. Letter writing, emails and phone calls are far more effective in getting their attention.
