Just saw this article on the same subject:
Testifiers support e-cigarette ban for minors

State Senator Russ Karpisek made the following statement that was quoted in the article I just linked:

"I would not argue at all that electronic cigarettes are better for adults than tobacco cigarettes," Karpisek said. "I also do not intend to get into the taxation of electronic cigarettes to make them taxed like a tobacco product."

ETA: I just looked up his campaign contributors for his last election (2010), and RJR and Altria appear to be the top donors, so his position makes sense in the "follow the money" scenario. CASAA sent out a Call to Action to our Nebraska members last week asking for vapers and vendors to attend yesterday's hearing.

Looks like it was a success, as several news stories focused on how e-cigarette consumers and sellers were behind the law.
