Aren't the google laptops all just netbooks, with no cd drive? If I buy a different laptop I need a cd drive. What's a good brand of laptop, for a cheap price?

For what you want it for.. I would go ASUS over HP, but when you are in that $300-700 range, its all the same for the most part. You just don't want to overpay for specs and features that aren't going to work properly in that config

Do you have windows 8? I hate looking for stuff....I spend so much time looking at different brands and models....then end up more confused than I was......

If I had a really good laptop and was just wanting something extra, then I would probably go with a netbook
Windows 8 sucks on anything that does not have touchscreen functions in my opinion...
see thats what my desktop is for lol..but when i got my lap top this model was going out so it was about the same price as a netbook.
I've heard a lot of people say they don't like it.

Awww that sucks.. okay the nitty gritty of windows 8 for a tablet or smart phone it is awesome as it is the microsoft version of android and the iphone for anything that does not have a touch screen its mouse interface has issues... also i have not heard of any add on or application that helps to fix this... as you looking for a cheaper laptop you will definatly not be getting touchscreen so windows 8 will just annoy you.. Microsoft is trying to make people upgrade to touch screen so they came out with this fail .... OS when probably 95% of the population do not have a touch screen moniter in any way shape and form. They should have just stuck with windows 7 for there laptops and desktops.. and only used windows 8 on there phones, laptops with touch screen capabilities, and there tablets. Okay thats my rant for this afternoon now i am gonna take a nap

Mama bears finally picked a paint color out of the myriad of samples sloshed on the walls here and there...I started prepping and decided we are pigs. Our house is filthy. The tops of my cabinets are a disgrace. The fronts are as well, as is the base, trim, doors, floors.....etc...
I have to paint but it may take all week to get these 2 rooms clean enough to paint....

Yeah, you are correct.. Jen has one and I am constantly hooking up external drives (DC/DVD. HDD, Flash) to do anything on it.. But that one she takes everywhere for her social media stuff.
Windows 8 is BS at this point.. It will end up like Vista. It's cool for the touch crap, but I threw it on one of my comps and wasn't impressed.. I use 7 ultimate X64 on all of my machines
