so i am aiming around 2.0 ohms what gauge wire should i be getting and what is the difference between kanthal and nichrome?
I would probably use 32ga, or 30ga....I'm sure Pitt will explain the differences between kanthal and nichrome. I've always used kanthal.
Basically the higher the gauge of wire the more resistance it has, giving you higher ohms. I used 34ga at first, but it is really thin and i had a hard time working with it, now if I wanted about a 2ohm coil I would use 32ga
It was until i ran outta wire in my attempt at making a coil, or i should say lost the last bit i had of it.. and out of the 4 i attempted to make none of htem worked at all sigh... oh and top it all of i got into an argument with a person, i thought i knew well, who wont listen to the fact that vaping is not smoking and his zealotry about anti smoking was unbelievable... which forced me to put up my facebook status I am a vaper not a smoker get it right (i never put up facebook status's) just to smash it into there face as they are on my FB page right now.
So now i am relaxing with a smores poptart and screw the calories in them!
You would also be working with a smaller area on the phoenix, depending on how thick your wick is. Nichrome is slightly less resistive than Kanthal, but not by much. If you are doubling the wire, you would be cutting the resistance in half..
Well, if you want 32g Kanthal, I have about 90 feet of it left and I don't use it all that often. It will probably never fully disappear.. If you want some of it, I can send you some.
yus please!!!!!!!! If that will get me about 1.8-2.4 ohms i will be happy thats my perfered coil level i have found.
Difference in Kanthal and Nichrome is 1) the name 2) some resistive differences (kanthal has a higher resistance) 3) Kanthal is a bit stronger and has better thermal properties. There are more scientific differences, but none that will probably matter at this point.
2 ohm.. depending on the number of wraps you want and diameter of your wick.. I would shoot for 32g. In the Phoenix you would use probably 5 wraps or so to achieve close to that.
