Im coming up on 10 months since I quit smoking... It was hard to do because I was using a 510 & KR808 switching batts very often and constantly topping off ect...

Then I found a life saver... the RiVa and then the eGo XL, with a mega atty and 2ML cartridge... I got rid of all my old ecigs and only use these atm..

Since I resolved all the negative issues, I am now looking for a mod to see what the 5 6 7 volt fuss is all about...

I wanna start off low at first to see if I even like it at these levels..

So, what is a good 5 volt device under $100 that I can try to see if anything above 3.7V - 5V is for me?

Almost.... But not quite. There's nearly a full watt's power difference between a LR (1.5 ohm) atty at 3.7 volts and a regular (2.5 ohm) atty at 5 volts. I find the difference very noticeable.

There is a significant difference between a 3.7V/LR setup and a 5V/standard setup. On paper, the watts are fairly close, but in practice, most 3.7V batteries are not capable of providing the amps necessary to provide full wattage. If you measure the voltage under load from a 3.7V mod with a LR atty, it's going to be well under the nominal voltage. Compare that to a regulated 5V mod, which is still 5V even under load. And things are even worse with a 3.2V device like the ego and its clones.

I switched to 5V several months ago and I cannot go back. I still keep a 3.7V bartleby with a LR atty around for emergency purposes, but I need proper 5V to really enjoy vaping any more. For me, there is as much difference between 3.7/LR and 5V/standard as there is between 3.7/standard and 3.7/LR.

If you want a good suggestion for a first (and last) mod, get a buzz or joker. Yes, they're both over $100 with batteries and charger, but they really are the best things going right now. Save the money that most of us spend on all the intermediate steps and go straight to the endgame.

I've been contemplating getting my first mod too... Does modding primarily mean higher or variable voltage?

I was interested in getting the Roughstack because of its size (the other mods seem so large), battery prices, and durability. Although I don't know if it is enough of a difference from my eGo, both running a 3.7v and all?

Any feedback?

Besides the benefit of more power from the batteries over smaller ecigs, the bottom fed juice mods are what I found to be an asset. With the 3.7v battery and the bottle of juice that is directly fed to the atomizer, I can go on that set up for 1-3 days without having to mess around with the battery or cartomizers or dripping. Just vaping (depends on usage). The mini REO is the one I use because I have little hands and don't feel comfortable holding the big mods that look like power tools of a sort. I still have my eGos and won't give them up. I also added a low resistant atomizer to both my eGos and my mini REO and that seems to have made a big difference in the vapor volume and the hit.

Who sells the REO? Is it a certain vendor, or is widely available (I haven't seen it on my reg. site lists)?

Thanks.
