I am making my own juice now and following all the instructions on the forum but everything I make doesn't taste good to me. I was a menthol smoker in my analog days and can't seem to break out of wanting the menthol. I have PG VG, Bickfords, Lorans, distilled water and no matter how I change the formulas nothing tastes good. I read about everyone else making all these great juices and wonder if I am doing something wrong. I just made a batch of Root Beer and had to add 4 times the amount of Bickerfords before I even tasted anything and when I did it tastes like gasoline to me.

What is a good formula for PG and VG mix so I get taste and massive vapor. Can anyone help me????????

Taste is really a hard thing as we have different ones.

I made some strong menthol that is really nice with menthol crystals, nic juice and used 50/50 pg/vg to cut it with.

If you are missing vapor and your nic juice is pg based, you might want to try cutting it with just vg for max vapor.

You can test the above ( or clean off bad flavors) with a 50/50 mix of vg/pg.

As far as how much flavor you need to use, that sorta depends on how strong of a flavor it is to begin with.

I would start with the smallest ammount you can make, and test it to see if you like it before making a large batch. This way you can either tweak it, or toss it out and not waste much.

Another idea might be to just mix pg and or vg with flavor and no nic juice (as nic juice is the most exspensive) to test ratio's, then redo the math to remake with nic juice at your target mg level.

One of the better rescource threads I found is here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/39795-what-best-diy-liquid-threads.html

Hope this helps :)

You get the most taste with PG, the most vapor with VG, so you have to balance one against the other. I suggest trying a base of 60% PG and 40% VG. You didn't mention nic liquid so I assume you're vaping no-nic?

Also, the device makes a difference. If you have a 510 type, you might try getting a 306 atomizer (which fits the 510 connector) and dipping it. You use the empty cart which comes with the new atty as a mouthpiece. They don't have a high output but the flavor is very good, beats a 510 atty. Dipping doesn't work when you're out and about, but it's do-able at home or in the office.

The 801 atty makes clouds of vapor so you could cut back on the VG and still have good output. High volume would help give more taste. I think the taste is slightly better than the 510 when both are running at 3.7 volts.

If you used the same atomizer with menthol before the you wont be able to taste other flavors right. Even your tongue may have a hard time to taste other flavors after menthol or other strong flavors.

1) Change cartrige + Clean or change your atty
2) Drink water, wait a few minutes to rest your taste buds.
3) From my limited experience: VG = Great vapor but too much may mask the flavor
4) Some PV modes are better at flavor others at vapor

Some flavors will be ok with 5% other will need 40%
Hey ! I even read that some poeple are doing it with only flavor !

Try again ;)

My recommended way to test a flavor:

Fill a 3ml bottle 2/3 full with PG (or measure out 2ml)

Add 4 drops of flavoring. Shake well.

Drip 2 drops onto your atomizer, and vape it until the atomizer is dry.
Do not stop early - keep vaping until it's gone. You need to make sure that you are testing your flavor, not the previous one, and you need to get the atomizer dry again.

If you can't taste anything, add 2 more drops of flavoring.
If you can taste a little, add 1 drop of flavoring and 1 drop of PG.

Shake, drip 2 drops onto your atomizer, and vape until it's dry again.

Continue this process until the flavor is strong enough.

Be sure to keep count of the total number of drops of flavoring used. This will give you a very good idea of how many drops of that flavoring you'll need to add to 2ml of flavorless juice.

He who controlls the Juice Controlls the Universe!

Hey NightShadow, you a Dune fan? That shows good taste ~

MaxUT,

I am indeed a fan of Dune, it is among my favorites.

As far as the quote (with slight change) ... it seemed the propper way!

Scottes, nice testing method!
