So, I've had a gen 1 iTaste VTR from innokin (with spinning wheel connector) for about 6 or 7 months and the 510 connector is starting to weaken, the threads are wearing down and I'm getting missed connections, weird ohm readings and failure to fire. Problem is doubled when I have anything in on the extendor. I'm not interested in grinding down and bodging to fix it so I need a replacement.

Specs.
I like VV but have never used VW
I tend to vape in the 3.6 - 4.6 V region with coils in the 1.5-2.2 ohm region. So I max out well under 15W
I'm not tied to box or tube design but it has to be able to take a fall because I'm clumsy as anything.
Really want high build quality for a long lasting device.
I like the look of the boost function I've seen on a couple of devices but it's not a must have.
Needs a 510 connector and must accept 19ml clearo's and cartotanks. (possible need for 22mm if I ever get that aspire nautilus)

My baseline here is looking at a provari (+extension cap and warranty), which will set me back about £180 ($300) with tax and import or similar if bought in UK. I'd rather not spend that much but I can't think of anything with a similar reputation for build quality. So point me in the direction of your favourite simple mod. No mechs please.

I have had my two Provari's now for over a year..have taken them everywhere with me even offshore tuna fishing. Military grade electronics in a very tough tube. 510 connection is SS and won't strip or wear out as I've had a lot of different attys screwed into them and the threads are still like new..Using the 18650 batt with the extension cap I run a R91 with a 27g 1.4 ohm coil and cotton wick at about 4.0-4.2v. The beauty about the provari I like is getting that same 4.0v vape consistently as the battery wears down.. A flashing button tells me my batt needs recharged..usually around 3.2v after a solid 8 hrs of non stop vaping or more.
I know they are a bit pricey but these days you get what you pay for. In my opinion the Provari has proved to me it was worth every penny... Cheers!

Very well..but what works for you didnt work for me..I bought an Innokin Itaste 134 for $145 online..had it 6mos and it quit firing no matter what I tried..contacted the vendor and he said sorry pal, I can't do nothing about it........ me off I wasted all that money on a piece of junk!
That's when I ordered a provari, made here in the USA with a one year factory warranty..2 yr optional... After 6 mos I bought another one...its whatever floats your boat, Captain...happy you found something that works for you.. Ta Ta

In the long run the provari will outlast those other cheaper PVD's meaning the provari will be the last PVD you'll be buying for a very long time..they are that good!
Money I save from being a pack a day smoker far out weighed the price I paid for a quality PVD...Now I have two Provari's because I know they work great and probly will be with me to my dying day..lol

Take a look at my sig to see what my favorite mod is.

I have had my standard for two years and my mini for one and a half. I use one or the other every day with a cartotank or a Kayfun Lite. They have fallen from my lap getting out of the car more times than I could remember and never sweated it. I only look for damage on the tank; I already know the Provari will be fine.

There's something to be said about the "rattlesnake" effect of the Chinese regulated mods; I no longer use those because of my preference for the smoother vape of the Provari's 800 Hz processor. There's not a better VV mod with better voltage regulation -- your last puff will be as good as the first.

Tough, reliable, dependable, consistant. That's a Provari.

Why Provari?

The v3 will cost more when its released but speaking for myself I m well pleased with the v2.5 I have now.. I vape a R91 with a 26g 1.1 ohm coil and cotton wick at 3.8-3.9v which is indeed my sweet spot..I get 8 hrs of non stop vaping with the extension and 18650 batt..having two Provari's setup with same build let's me change flavors by simply switching them out. If I want serious clouds I drip on a mech mod ..but my provari is my go-to PVD most of the time..don't care for box mods myself..too much voltage drop in most of them and as the battery wears down so does the quality of your vape. But you do get the same voltage you set in the provari from first vape to the last vape regardless of batt v...at 3.2v the button flashes letting me know its time to re charge it....great devise!

Keep it in the family. Every thing you mention is answered by the Innokin MVP. It is a mod that almost all who have tried it liked it. Tough and dependable, on board charging, all the bells and whistles and it won't break the bank.
I've considered it but built in battery bothers me. I prefer my devices modular.

WIll definitely look into it. The modularity on a first glance looks fantastic. Does anyone know how the nivel chip provides power? Will need to look into some reviews.

Yes I agree with this it's a very solid device pretty much on par with a provari. Also have you looked into the new rDNA by vaporshark?
Ooh, that looks nice as well. I don't really know much about the DNA 30 chip, reviews seem to say it's solid. Any issues I should know about?

Grab me a turkey sandwich since you are out to lunch.

BOX mod is NOT synonymous with a MECH mod.

Being that you ruled out provari from the jump, I would look at semover, or a good dna30 mod.
Personally I'm a provari fan, can't kill it no matter What, I've run it over not once or twice, but 4 times and it fell off the deck of my raised house, by raised I'm 27ft above ground level.
She still shines and works everything time. Best thing I could have bought. Use venture to say that it's said for itself after the hell I've put it through.
I've never used a semover, but from users I've spoken too it seems to be very well made! And it looks very nice as well.
For a DNA mod, not much pops to mind in the durability factor I have a vaporshark dna30 and with a sharkskin its held up rather well.
