Hi Gang,

I am still fairly new to this. I want to mix my own juice and stock up on some unflavored base, specifically nicotine. What is a good reliable USA source for this stuff? When I Google it, or search here, I get information overload - a gillion vendors all claiming to be the best and cheapest. So, in a nutshell, where is a good place?

Thanks in advance!

I tend to go geographically with a lot of supplies when I can. Wizard Labs is in FL but they're always out of stock on nic. The flavorings are a very good deal but limited.
I generally go to RTS for nic and most supplies. Not only are they very close to here, they have free shipping over $75, are hardly ever OOS and I believe there is a one time first order coupon code. I forgot what it is or if they even do it anymore. They have a thread in the supplier forum so you can ask.
I have tried other nic from registered suppliers here and never had a problem with any of it.

Try your search in just this subforum if you haven't, lots of threads that might be more specific than a general site wide search.

I wanted wizard too but lost patience. I bought some weaker base (36 & 60) from MyFreedomSmokes. Very good quality from what I've vaped so far. I also bought a liter from RTS along with some glass and flavorings. I broke down the RTS into 120ml bottles. It was nice and clear with barely any smell. Haven't tried it yet but I have zero worries of the quality. I used the 20% off first time order just 2 weeks ago. It was good for nic, pg, and vg. Saved me a nice chunk of change.

Thanks for the feedback folks. :)

Those prices look doable. So, my other burning question, which is related to nicotine juice - what is the approx. shelf-life of unflavored nicotine base? My worry is that the FDA or government will step in and regulate the nicotine and make it impossible or too expensive to obtain. I'd like to have a stockpile of it for my own use. But, how long does it keep?

Would pure nicotine extract (100%) store longer than mixed base? They can't outlaw or regulate the base ingredients, because they are too easy to get and widely used outside of the vaporizer industry.

Thanks!

There are a few threads about this - I've read through with the same concern.
No tested FACTS on it with clear answers, but the concensus seems to be:
You don't mean 100% nic - you might mean 100 mg nic. I hope. 100% nic is DEADLY - you handle it wearing like a full body suit with special ventilation, etc.
Definitely, nic solution will last longer than flavored juice.
Nic solution will probably very slowly lose a little strength, dropping from 100 mg/ml to 99 mg/ml, etc...
Best storage is probably in dark glass, and in a freezer...

I just bought a (relatively) small amount of 100mg/ml nic base from Nude Nicotine and several amber boston round glass bottles to split it into even smaller amounts for freezer storage. My thought is I don't want it to be going in and out of the freezer causing condensation to potentially contaminate the base liquid, so I'm breaking it into very small amounts and once a bottle comes out of the freezer it will stay out til it's used up. This is my first DIY nic purchase though, so I can't give you any real insight. I'm just sharing my plan based on extensive reading here and in the DIY group on Facebook.

I also went with VG base because I love vapor production and don't care for throat hit, and also I've read that VG base nic degrades at a slower rate than PG base nic in the freezer. :)

The resident chemists confirmed that 2-3 years stored properly in the freezer suffers very little degradation. 5+ years has stated as being quite possible.

Oxidation is the primary influence over time and contact with air is the culprit. Contact with light is bad as well. I took great care with my large stock. I broke it down in 120ml bottles (sterilized) with polycone caps. Very little airspace in the bottle (base doesn't expand when frozen). Screwed the caps on tight and vacuum sealed each bottle individually. I have little concerns for long term storage. My icebox doesn't have auto-defrost either. Constant 0 degrees. Not sure that makes much difference.

From what I read, even bottles with airspace on the shelf only lose about 1mg of strength per month or so. Oxidation doesn't really make nic go bad either. Just yellows it. The flavor isn't affected much at all.

There are great threads all over the forum. Use the advanced search function and search titles only. There's a ton of info.

I bought an assortment of 3ml, 6ml & 12ml high quality Luer Lock Monoject syringes dirt cheap from

Drs. Foster and Smith - Monoject syringes

you'll also need 1ml syringes for more precise flavor measuring

I have nic from Wizard Labs & RTS Vapes - WL is usually OOS

RTS has a 20% discount code for your first liquids purchase & free shipping over $75

I buy my 120ml & 30ml blue glass bottles from RTS and make use of the free shipping.

Essential Depot has USP PG & VG - a gallon of each for $57 total (free shipping)

Our liquids pour from plastic much easier than from glass BTW - glass = pretty, plastic = useful

Unless you're talking long term storage in which case the plasticizers from the plastic can leech out into your nic.

My base nic goes right into those blue amber glass bottles I mentioned.
I meant plastic graduated cylinders.

I'm in Florida as well, as I used my freedom smokes for my first DIY juice order. Shipping was fast and my supplies arrived in 2 days.

I use their 24mg nicotine juice at 50pg/50vg. I also bought 5 flavors and 5 10ml bottles.

My mix ratio is incredibly simple....9ml nic juice and 1ml flavor, which gives me a 21.6mg nicotine percentage. I smoked 2 PPD for 37 years, so this nic level is just right.

Thanks for all of the helpful replies. I feel a lot better informed now. ASAP (probably next week), I am going to order some bulk juice ingredients - enough to keep me stocked for years if the FDA gets stupid on us. I already have dark glass bottles to keep the juice in. I figure I will break it down into smaller bottles and put them in the freezer or fridge, and take out one small bottle as needed, without disturbing the rest.

Should I store it in the fridge or in the freezer?

Best regards,

MikeG
