So......I know I could search, but I need to get my post count up :p

I am looking at getting an ego-T. Is there a reason why I would need to get extra attys? Do they burn out? What about cleaning them?

I ask these questions because I have the KR808 Cartomizer models now, mainly because I hate maintenance. If it is something I am going to constantly adjust and clean and mess with, I would probably just smoke instead.

You will need an extra atty just because what would you do if the only one you had quit? It's always a good idea to have a spare or two. An atty should last a lot longer than a cartomizer like you're used to, but you still can't count on having just one anymore than you should just have one battery. They don't require much fiddling and the carts will hold a lot of juice. Attys last longer than cartomizers, but they do go out and when they go, they're DONE. There's no getting a few more drags out of them. One minute they're working, the next minute they're not.... I'd have at least one back up, probably two just because it takes a little while to get replacements if something should happen. Better safe than sorry.

yes it is a good idea to get spare attys. The usual length of time one is suppose to last is around one month to around six weeks although I have one that is still going after two months. As for cleaning you are going to get a lot of feedbback on this one. some people say just blow them out and others say clean them in different ways but the best way I have found is a suggestion another member posted on here. Get some inexpensive denture cleanser and put your atty ina cup of hot water with a denture tab in the water with the atty sitting directly on top of the tab. Let sit for fifteen min. Take atty out rinse really well blow excess water out and let dry. Fill tank cart up and insert into atty. Let sit for a few minutes upright . Drip a couple of drops of liquid into battery end and vape As far as suppliers go there are some great vendors who sell attys at reasonable prices some of these are FreedomsmokesUSA, Cignot, GoodProphets, AwesomeVapor and Vaperite These are the vendors I have dealt with and all my attys work great No issues

That is a fantastic idea. I'll definitely get a 501 to 808 adapter. Interchangeability goes right into my "Keep it Simple Stupid" mantra.

Also, you can use cartomizers with your battery. The
tank will be a 510 connection, so get some 510 atomizers. Or get an adapter (510 battery to 808 carto) and you can use your KR808 cartomizers with the battery. That would at least give you a back up setup until you could get another atty in.

Here's a bit of advice from a newbie to newbie. I've been vaping for around 3 months now and have gone through many trial-and-error situations (cost me a bundle too). Besides the basics about choosing from myriad of available juices out there, the biggest difference for me was this:

Drip rather than using cartos AND most importantly, de-wick (and optionally de-bridge) your atty. Following link contains information on how you can do this, or if you want, there are vendors out there that sell de-bridged attys for $1 extra.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/132683-bridgeless-drippers-dream-atty.html

Now, why am I suggesting this? It's simple. If you want to get that true flavor for your juice, then this is perhaps the only way. The wick that covers the coil/bridge is primarily designed so that it draws the juice from your cartos to the coil. However, the same wick can retain previous juice you've used and can pretty much be "caked-in" so that it will burn, producing some nasty flavor. Of course, you could try to clean your atty, but it's not easy to remove this "burnt" taste. I had few attys in this condition which I finally resorted to removing the wicks and now they're wonderful! Pure juice taste and also easier to clean (simply let it sit in hot water and dry-burn it to remove any remaining moisture). Give it a try when one of your atty retains that burnt taste. You won't be sorry.
