Currently I have 24g Kanthal, every build is generally between .3 to .5 ohms. I am wanting to start building coils that around 1 to 1.5 ohms but i cant logically do this with 24g in my RDAs or RTA. I currently own a Brass Monkee rda, a Tobh 22mm Atty, a Vulcan 22mm RDA, and a Lemo RTA. In the Lemo my build is a .7 with the 24g but i can build a .9 with the wire that they sent with the tank but sadly they dont tell me what gauge it is. In the RDAs its still .3 to .5 (Latest build is a .3) I believe what i have wrapped atm is a Micro coil but i could be wrong, its wrapped around a Screw driver that is similar to the drill bit size for micro. Anyways, Could anyone help tell me which Gauge Kanthal makes which different range generally? Looking to just get a 250ft spool of the wire once i know which size to get. Much appreciated!

Have you looked at Coil wrapping | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators at all?

You can input some target resistances, your preferred wrapping device size (In coil diameter) and see what you come up with for wraps for different gauges. I find it handy because I won't go past 8 wraps for anything, and tend to shy away from anything less than 5 cause they just get too hot for my personal taste. 1ohm or higher dual coil I'd probably have to move up to 30 or 32 gauge however it's such a pain in the backside to work with because it's very fragile and finicky. I comfortably stay between 0.4 and 0.8 with 28 gauge for most things now, occasionally for 0.2-0.4 builds I'll migrate down to 26 gauge - I like surface area on my wick :)

I actually haven't thought of looking for anything like that, this forum was my first thought haha. According to that 28g with 8 wraps around my 2mm (roughly) screwdriver would come out to about 1.2 ohms. 6 wraps for 1 (9.3) ohm. I wish i knew what gauge i have with this Lemo because its great for it but it doesnt tell me. Appreciate sharing that calculator, will definitely bookmark that and save it for use when building!

Here is a spreadsheet that helped me. There are also some very good apps for smartphones. Steam Engine has a very good one. Good luck to you.

Don't quote me on it, but I *THINK* if I remember correctly the stock Lemo coil and wire that came with it was 26 gauge.

I could believe that its 26g based on the chart Rat2Chat2 posted. 26g Kanthal with 8 wraps comes out at .9 ohms which is what i got, the coil that came prebuilt on it was 1ohm build. Now to decide do i get 26g an do .9 to 1ohm builds or do i get 28g and do 1.2ohm builds

Also great help! Bookmarked as well haha. Based on both of these im going to be getting 28g Kanthal.

If it's possible, before buying a big spool, if you have any local vape shops, grab some of their smaller strands like 5-10 feet of varying gauges and try that way. A calculator and our advice can only go so far, but some people who like warm vapes, like fewer wraps, cooler vapes, more wraps...I know it would have driven me nuts to have 200 feet of wire laying around I'll probably never use LOL.

I know my local vape shop i usually go to doesnt sell kanthal, or really and RDAs that ive noticed, mainly just kanger tank and i think they have a couple mods. I know of a couple more vape shops around me that ill have to go check out. I know the 26g (In theory) that came with my Lemo i just built coils on my Tobh but i overtightened the screws and cut the wire and ruined the coils so i never got to vape them, i know it was a .6ohm build though so i just put 24g in it but as normal with RDAs my Cloupor DNA30 read too hot after like 3 hits so i just used the 26g on my lemo and set it up again with a .8ohm coil and am using it again. So far only RDA to work on my Cloupor without reading too hot (even if i try to get it to) is my Vulcan. But sadly i dont have enough 26g left for a dual coil build and the vulcan doesnt have a setup for single coil. Will definitely look into getting a small amount of 26g.
