Need advice on getting the best from 801 atomizer

I got my 801 atomizers today from eastmall. First time Ive ordered anything but the ejuice from them. The 801's are getting such good reviews I thought I'd get a few for myself and a friend.
I'm finding the two I've tried so far are producing very little vapor. One is quit acrid tasting. I have used other 801's and they work fine. I know Eastmall has great products and even better service.
I'm thinking maybe because the mesh or what ever you call it is so much wider than my other atomizers - maybe an old pro on this forum can offer me some advice on using these atomizers. Has anyone found it requires any thing different to break in these 801's. I've been used to just sticking in a cart and vaping away. I've send Ed or Dave a note and I'm very sure they'll get back to me but any extra advice hear would be much appreciated as i'm sure either I'm doing something wrong or I got a couple of atty's that aren't up to snuff.

I'm not an old pro, but I'm an 801 nut. Sometimes, especially generic dse801's, need to be broken in. Also, I pre-wash all mine in a Pepsi Max bath. I actually threw up from primer on a dse801 atty once. Here is my 801 ritual:

1) soak in pepsi max for an hour or two
2) rinse out with cold water
3) blow dry
4) let sit for an hour
5) drip 4 drops of a flavor I don't hate directly onto the wick
6) attach a full cart and do primer puffs for about a minute to break em in fast

That always works for me.
