need advice on how to deal with a wet twist battery

So today I set my ego twist battery in what I thought was an empty cup with a paper towel in the bottom. Then when I picked it up and took a vape I realized that the bottom was wet, imagine my chagrin when I looked at the cup and realized that someone had put a wad of paper towel in a cup about a third full of coffee (the rest of the family regularly uses my computer when I'm not here). I've done my best to work any coffee out of the battery with paper towels, twisting the knob back and forth and blowing against the divide between it and the battery, and I let it sit for about 6 hours on it's side over a paper towel, but now it seems to be over voltage no matter what I have it set at. I put an evod on it tonight and got a ton of vape and then a burnt taste on the third puff, so obviously it's pumping out much more voltage than the 3.7 volts I had it set on.

Anyone else out there ever have this happen? How did you solve it? This is a relatively new battery and I would hate to have to trash it if I can save it.

If it was me I'd use either Isopropyl alcohol and Mineral oil. Their safe around electronics and non conductive. Just be aware there are positive connections at the bottom of a twist so use something non conductive. Then I'd warm the liquid up a bit, to dissolve the coffee in there and let it soak for a second. Then take an air compressor and blow out using the gaps around the button (or mouth :D). If that didn't work, I'd soak it longer and repeat.

Hope that helps.

possibly a hair dryer would help speed up drying the rheostat. i wouldn't let it get very hot and adjust the dial to different settings during the process. 30 min. to maybe an hour. let it fully cool before retry. good luck and if i used solvent i would probably go alcohol but you are getting power now. i leaning more towards continue drying.

From the symptoms, I'd say it was worth trying to fix it. Almost certainly there's only a short on the dial and if you can fix that, you should be OK.

Generally accepted wisdom is that coffee and tea are harmless. It's the sugar and milk that destroy stuff. So if it was black coffee, use the rice and/or hair-dryer. If there were contaminants, then you need to use a solvent.

Good luck and take care.

well, an update, after letting it sit for a few weeks the twist seems to be working correctly again, but I'm still a little nervous about that first recharge...

I would be also. Do you have an outside electrical outlet? If you do why not do the charging outside and use an extension cord to move it away from the house.

EDIT:

Also if no outside outlet run an extension cord out a window and do the charging outside.

This may sound funny but it wasn't funny when it happened. I dropped my vision spinner into the toilet water. I immediately took it out dried it off cleaned it, and put it into a bag of rice for about three days. After that it was perfectly fine! That was around a month and a half ago and it is still going strong. I highly suspect I got it out quick enough before the water entered the battery. I would try the rice, if I were you. It will draw out the water. Problem is, if your sure the battery has gotten wet then if all the water isn't drawn out it will corrode. Then can become dangerous. If your sure the liquid got into the case in sadly I would not trust it. With mine, I could tell the water didn't have time to enter the case yet. You might try the rice but if their is moisture inside the battery casing it's likely corrosion will happen.
