We have been vaping for around 3-4 weeks. I can say its been easy for me ! My wife likes it also but shes got a terrible sore throat. I looked this morning and she has a small open sore on one side....... Im wondering if maybe she needs to drink more water. But im wanting to narrow it down more. She has acid reflux so im thinking maybe the PG is bothering her also? she hasn't complained about heartburn or anything. But i hate to see her worrying about vaping!

So i was thinking this would be a place to start.

1 Drink more water
2 Try a Higher VG blend or straight VG (How do you thin it?) ( I have a 70/30 mix but it wicks SLOW!)
3 She uses ce-4's (with an BC acrylic ce-5 for a tank cracker) Mabey a RDA would help?
4 If it persists see a doc? ( Im worried most of the docs will say to just quit e ciggs. There closed minded and shes going to take there advise over mine.)

As a side note how many times can you dry burn atty's before they're junk. Most of ours are 4-5 times dry burnt. (she likes to switch flavors) I do all the dry burning and cleaning. Only use water to rinse and flick out excess and then dry burn. Then load up and prime.

Anyone that can help please speak up !

Ive got acid reflux and have had to seriously curtail my vaping habits because of it. Try getting her to drink more water, as dehydration could cause her to get a dry scratchy throat. I had to switch to high VG, but you can switch to 100% VG and dilute with distilled water (I think to normal ratio is 5-10% distilled water, so for 100ml of vg about 5-10 ml of water). Some people dilute with vodka or other clear liquors but I never have.

Also I highly suggest picking up a couple protanks or something better than the CE4. You will be amazed at the difference in flavor and feel! And an RDA wouldn't hurt, but most people have to cut their nic level alot when they drip so that's something to keep in mind.

Its not so much a dry throat. I looked inside this morning it swollen. Im thinking she has something going on. But im afraid if i tell her to see the doc and she says shes vaping there going to try and scare her out of doing it. (shes easily influenced by them) Most people up here are used to seeing the medias coverage of the "unknown" aspects of vaping...... Its sad that no one understand whats really going on.

The ingredients in eliquid are pretty simple compared to cigarettes, nicotine, flavoring, PG & VG. (BTW, all of these ingredients are also in cigarettes).

You could try a small bottle of unflavored VG for a week then unflavored PG and narrow it down. Could be the PG, VG (less than 10% of people have an actually allergy to either) or the flavoring.

I would tell her to keep hydrated, maybe try some biotine spray. I had a friend how had issues with his mouth and it did go away. Not that I'm trying to give your wife medical advice, I'm just an ex-smoker. :D

Tell her to hang in there. We may not know everything, but we know it's a heck of a lot better than smoking.

Lot of help here. I would try a few things: 1) Lower the voltage and/or raise the topper ohms so the vapor has less heat to it. 2) Lower PG and raise VG if her throat is very dry. 3) Add some distilled water to the VG juice as it will help a little with hydrating. You can just put a few drops right in the topper. 4) Don't vape irritating flavors like anything with cinnamon in it or citrus juices. Also, if the juice gives a strong throat hit, back off of it until the throat clears up or dilute it. 5) And, yes, drink more and make it non-acidic which includes citrus, tea and pops.

Allergy to PG is very rare but does happen. High or 100% VG can make lungs feel "heavy" in some people but its worth a try. Staying hydrated is very important and most people don't realize how much drinking that means. It varies from person-to-person/their juice/their setup but for me, it means for every 5 puffs on my setup, one gulp of liquid is required and, of course, drinking that much, cold water is best.

Highly suggest she see a doctor if her throat is swollen, she doesn't have to tell them she's vaping

I'm not sure what equipment you have.

She is using the stock non rebuildable Ce-4s that came with her e-go. And a Ce5 thats acrylic for the MT bkr vapor spring break she likes.... (citrus)

So everything we have is single coil. But they have all been dry burned at least 4-5 times. Does that affect anything?

YES! It could be strep or mono or a yeast infection. Or a bunch of other stuff. Tonsils, viral crud. If it is swollen that needs to be looked at. Swelling in your airway is a very bad thing. Take care. See a Dr.

All of your suggestions are worth of trying. Your best judge is your (her) own taste. Vape should be cool. If you have VV/VW cranks it DOWN. Minimize throat hit. Possibly lower nicotine and higher VG. Rinse with Biotine or Colgate dry mouth before bed and during the day if problem persists, like NOW.

My hubby and I are both in the medical profession and I would highly suggest she see a Dr. I don't think it's related to vaping. I think it's a coincidence but if she has strep, and doesn't get antibiotics...it can lead to much worse things. I'd have her head to the Dr.

Edited to say that they can culture her throat and tell what the problem is. If it's yeast...then a few Diflucan will do the trick, if it's strep, antibiotics and so on. My hubby is a Dr and we both think it's unrelated to vaping. Even if she has a PG allergy, I've never heard of it being that severe. I'm almost 100% sure that it's not related to vaping.

Im going to take a look at it in the morning and see if its looking better. She didn't complain tonight. But my acute hubby sense was tingling. I could see her rub her throat once or twice and she didn't vape as much tonight. So i made her some homemade lozenges from a herbal tea mix she likes(minty),peppermint essential oil and some of our bees honey. Not the best tasting but not the worst. I wish i had some light honey from the spring but all i have left is some dark fall wildflower honey.

Any way she's going to be set for something to keep her throat coated to it might feel better. Thanks everyone that commented. If she gets done with work in time she's going to see the doc. But hopefully its just a cold. And she feels better soon.
