My wife vapes, but she still smokes cigarettes ocassionally (2-3 a day). I still haven't found the sweet spot for her but I am honing in on it.

Basically I let her vape whatever I am vaping to see how she likes it. So far I know that LR Attys are too harsh for her. She likes a very cool flavorful vape with very little TH and tends to like fruity flavors.

I have settled into giving her an eGo battery with a Vision Stardust on it, I have found flavors she really likes but I need to order some with a bit higher nicotine content in them to get her off the analogs completely. When we first ordered flavors we thought she would like she insisted on low nic content (8mg-12mg) but I think something closer to 18mg would be better. She also tends to like higher VG content.

Just keep trying to figure out what she likes, you'll get her there!

My big issue is getting my 55 year old father who has been smoking analogs for 40 years to drop the habit. I wish he was more internet savvy, because that seems to be a major pre-requisite to making a successful transition.

Hey!!! I'm 55!!! :) OTOH I'm a computer professional and I was on the internet before there were web browsers. It's hard to believe but, the internet did exist before the web did. It was a lot different place though. :)

The news at the doc's wasn't what I'd hoped. I have to drive an hour to take her to a pulmonary specialist tomorrow. Keepin' my finger crossed.

I am in the same boat. I tried the Mini ProVari and Phiniac tank approach but it has been sitting idle for two days.

I have Ego batteries to try the low voltage approach.

I have tried the 510 approach.

I have tried the 0, 3 & 6mg nic approach.

I am now doing the quietly getting on with my vaping and realizing she is a big girl so will make her own decisions when she is good and ready approach.

With holes in my tongue through biting my tongue each time she coughs.

You two are in my prayers. Hoping for the best and that some good news comes out of all of this.

Just a thought, but I have seen some real success with 808 sticks (I used V4L diamond batteries) with people who are just starting and have the coughing issue. It is an easier transition for some, an easier hit. One of my converts who coughed like crazy basically finally learned to draw on them. Now she uses the 808, an ego or a 3.7 box mod depending on her mood and what's charged. She took around 5 months to quit cigs completely and has been vaping w/o cigs for about 4 months now. The real change was when I gave her a couple of 808's to try (previously I had given her an ego kit). The draw is more ciggie like, IMO, and somehow that makes a transition easier for some.

I hope all goes well with your wife and I agree with the poster who said the gum is way better than the smokes(or snus, anything but smoke!). Good luck and please update when you can.

Thought I'd provide an update. I have good news and bad news.

The bad news is she's better but, she's not improving at the rate the doctors hoped. She's been to see a pulmonary specialist twice and at this point he's loaded her up with meds, sent her home with a breating machine and said come back in a month. I try not to think about what it'll mean if she's not better by then.

The good news is that she came out of the specialist's office last visit and said she had to quit smoking. I had a long talk with her about how she was hitting it and you guys were right, she was doing it wrong. She still wasn't ready to try it. I told her whenever she was ready, I'd be here. This afternoon, she said she wanted to give it another try. I put a 510 atty on an ego and dripped 4 drops of the 18mg all VG and she tried it. It worked!!! I have a lot more pg based nic around than VG and I was pretty sure the way she was hitting was the problem. So, I wanted her to try that. I blew out the atty and put in 4 drops of 70/30 PG/VG in it and she tried that. It worked too!!! I loaded up a carto and showed her how to keep it wet. She's vaping away. I REALLY hope it helps.

She's using my old egos and I'm not sure how long they will hold up. I think I'll get one of those cheapie flashlight mods from Parkes for now.

Well, she still seems to be on the mend but, she's so stoic sometimes it's hard to tell. She can't kid the doctors though. I ended up ordering her a maxi roughstack V2 and a couple AW IMR 18650 bats. They made it in today and she likes it. :) I was honestly concerned that my old egos would die before it made it. I used to have 4 and two of them have died.

It sounds like she's slowly coming around. She'll get it eventually.. I gave my husband a helluva time before I finally made the switch, lol. I couldn't do the tobacco or menthol flavors at all though. None of them tasted like "mine" so I rejected every one of them he had me try. Alien Visions Hype was what got me through those first few days. I vape all fruity juices, they just taste better to me. Still praying for her health & your sanity! Hugs!

I have to brag on my wife now. She went out with her sister yesterday. Her sister smokes like a chimney. I was sure she'd have one or more but, she didn't. I'm really proud of her. She's still tires easily but, I think she's moving in the right direction.
Thats awesome!!!!!!

Great for you and your wife! You seem so sweet to her. You remind me of my husband. He's always googling everything I say when I have an issue...trying to find the right answer. My initial thought when reading your post was "inhaling too hard/deeply."

I have converted several friends and family members to e-cigs....a few of them were a hard inhalers. I made the terrible mistake of handing one of them my personal PV at max voltage. I thought she was going to die for a moment. However, just informing up front that it's not a cigarette and you don't have to "suck the life out of it" seems to work.

Again, glad you both got it worked out. Wishing you both the best on your journey stick with it together!

Really great to hear Mick. Hope that she continues to move in the right direction.

Have you tried 50/50 PG:VG ratio? It did help with my bad cough...high PG gives me bad throat hit and high VG gives me an itchy throat but 50/50 or 60/40 should be just nice. Also you might want to try with just a slight dash of menthol to smooth the drag.

Hope your wife gets well soon.

A little over a year ago, my wife started chewiing nicotine gum and quit smoking but, she never quit the gum. I decided that I needed to quit too but, I started vaping. She tried my PV but, she said it made her cough. A few months ago she started smoking again. Well now she has a serious case of bronchitus that's threatening to become pneumonia. She's on antibiotics, two different inhalers, prednisone, the doctors are pumping her full of more steriods and insisting on seeing her every other day, and she's still smoking.

I DIY and I can't believe it took me this long to think to mix up some all VG for her. I have a little all VG nic that I got by mistake when I first started and mixed up some all VG RY-4. She tried it coughed and wouldn't try it again. I may try some unflavored to see if that works.

Can anyone think of anything else I can try. I'm really worried about her.
