I need a answer to my question is Chrome any relation to aluminum?

I order a tip and Vaped for a day to wake up to having a sore on my lip. I get this if i drink out of Aluminum cans or if my skin comes into contact with Aluminum so i have to wash right a way. I do love the tip but am now totally freaking out cause my lip looks like hell.

You see I do have metal allgeries One being Titatinum, Nickel, Colbalt, and Aluminum. I know this from having neck surgeries and a shattered foot and ankle. I could not heal and had severe rash and swelling they had to go into on my neck and remove the hardware. they also had to do this with my foot and ankle but had to do one side at a time so that it would heal. once removed i was fine.

I have no problems with Stainless Steel but the hardware for for injurues doesn't seem to exist anymore. My last Neck surgery I was the first adulut that my doc had to use bio degradable porcelain plate and screws in which is what they use for little children. yeah me. nottt.

I really love the Chrome tip and know i can't use it is there anyone who makes a all Stainless Steel tip for the tanks.I love the wieght it has not to meniton when you are vaping you don't get all that darn air flow if would love some suggestions if anyone has them.

Do i need to provide you with more info?

If you need solid stainless make sure it is solid. There are less expensive stainless steel tips sold out there that are actually stainless over another metal. I know a few vendors that sell solid stainless such as Super-T manufacturer, Then the Siam mod drip tips are good. and Kir Fanis also has good solid stainless.

Well, since you didn't even say what specific product it is, IDK. But, why not just order a delrin tip? They make glass ones too.

If I had metal allergies, that's what I would do. If you really want a metal tip, you can buy stainless steel tips. Some people who have reactions to metals seem to tolerate SS better.

Flat Chrome Drip Tip - 510/901/KR808 this is the one i ordered. But i know for sure i need a stainless steel. The tips that came with the tank just suck to much air an dnot enough hit for me but that chrome tip did the job but messed my lip up big time.
Thanks for the links i will have to go for a look.

Another thing that MAY help is o-rings, since it's an airy draw tank issue (sorry...missed that the 1st time). Usually with a tank it's a carto and the tip fits into the carto... but in your specific case...IDK. My v.n. 2.5 is a metal top with tip, for example. I do use delrin on that one. Maybe ask some other users of whatever that tank is what they use? There is a tank specific area:

Well that depends on where you bought the unit from and what they made it with. However a general good rule of thumb is that unless it states Stainless Steel or Surgical Titanium and you have metal allergies then you should not use it. Since they usually use an alloy of metal in other products that can contain other impurities such as nickel and cobalt. I doubt the tip contains any aluminum since it is made from smelting boxite and is electrically smelted. So it probably has nickel and tin in the metal as well as part of the chrome plating.

Glass would be my answer to the problem, there are several makers/vendors...Sagewood, HotVapes, Trippy Tips. I have owned Trippy Tips and the ones from Hot Vapes and prefer the Hot Vapes tips, the glass is thicker and stays cooler. They do not use o-ring but all I have bought have been a tight enough friction fit I can pick up my ProVari with a tank on it by the tip and they don't come loose.

Siam also does a collection of glass tips that use a universal stainless steel stem...

Well, if this is the one you ordered, it does say "chrome" in the description, and it no where mentions stainless.
If you are unsure I would specifially email the vendor and ask. Stainless steel tips typically run about 15 - 25 dollars. The super T are up on the price scale but they are solid, heavy with jewel like finishes.

I didn't know what metal chrome was, i was assuming it was stainless steel. Guess being a woman i should have done a bit more research before i did. But hey I'm only out 3 bucks but thats ok. But now i know its nickel and i will be ordering a 100% Stainless Steal in the near future cause i do love the tanks.

You should have seen what i went through when i had my first neck surgery it was bad. to they removed it.
about a year later i was going to have a tooth implant well when the dentist said that the post was titanium i said no way. I told him my problem and he kind of laughed it off and had me watch the video so i ddi and after i finished watching it he came in with the titanium post and tape it to my arm. say to drive home and see what happens. well 60 minutes later it started burning and itching swelling up when i got home i took it off and i actually had a blister. I called the dentist back and he said he could not believe cause he's been doing this since 1985 and he has never had one patient have a reaction. He asked me to come back the next day and if i would not mind taping that post to my other arm and i did when i arrived at his office he got the surprise of his life. He then called my family dentist an said to him i just made his history book. I do have a list i carry with me just in case i happen to have a accident and get torn to pieces to not use any of these metal to put me back together. But tier only option right now is the bio degradable porcelain plates and screw. My Hubby says he'll get my grave plot ready.

LongHual I never thought of that i think i will try that but then again i would be afraid it would bleed through.lol

Thanks everyone for all your help.

Stainless steel is made by adding chromium to steel! I'm not sure which metal you had a reaction to with the chrome plated tip, but you might want to research this a bit more before you possibly go through the same thing again.

Be Careful.

Chromium is pure but things are seldom made of pure chrome. (If you can follow that sentence) Usually things are made of cheaper metals and a chrome plating is applied. I doubt if even the vendor would know what metals are used and then chrome plated. The layers mentioned in a previous thread are just applied to make the chrome plating adhere to the other metals better.

See what you can find out from super t.

Be Careful!
