Scottbee and I had some of the first 'beta' tanks in late December and so far I haven't had any problem. We both fill through the hole created by the spike and don't remove the cap. Removing the cap and replacing it over and over could create a problem - for one there are two flat sides and two round sides and IF you're going to remove the tank to fill - some do - then making sure those sides are aligned would be crucial for longer life but even then I think it would take quite a bit of mangling for them not to work as long as the sides are aligned. They're pretty substantial and they do 'click' in place when correctly fitted.
And I think most 'leaks' that are reported are coming from other things - not having the tank fully seated on the atty or problems with the wicking in the spike - got pushed out, etc. etc.
