Need help! Battery wires disconnected, how do I safely dispose?

Please excuse my lack of knowledge about this in general. I'm new to ecigarettes and need some help.

I purchased an Ego Passthrough battery a few months back. About a month ago I noticed that it was coming apart where the long battery connected to top section (where the button is). (The wires connecting these two parts were still together) It wasn't damaged in any way so I pushed it back together with no problems.

In my error I put my ecig in my bag and when I went to get it this morning I realized it had it again come apart. This time, the red wire had broken. When I picked it up it connected to the bottom and started smoking so I panicked and pulled it apart completely (breaking the black wire). So now I have these two parts and I am REALLY unsure what to do with them to dispose them safely. Is there any danger?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks for replying! I certainly don't feel comfortable with soldering anything. I'm more concerned with the safety of disposing it properly and being unsure if it was posing any danger sitting in my kitchen torn apart. Again, I am so not well versed on this sort of thing (including battery & electric issues) so I appreciate your help!

The circuit board part you can just toss. The tube itself contains a lithium battery and it should be recycled. Any store that sells rechargeable batteries should accept it for recycling. On a practical level, find the big battery recycling bin at a Lowes or Home Depot, right in front at the Customer Service desk.
