I ordered the SS Lavatube yesterday from Apollo. They are not in stock as of yet and are due to be shipped in a few weeks. The SS model is an option for the full size and mini. I ordered the full size and the SS is +$15. So the basic short info: Apollo SS Lavatube, Full Size, starter kit is $79.99. I didn't check out the price for the mini. If you use the code "Reddit" through 3/25 you will get 20% off your entire order.

If you choose the Black, Red or Silver LT, price is $51.96 for starter kit using Coupon Code "Reddit"

i am about to order the apollo one but i have another question i heard that these do not work well with dual coil cartos and that is all i use....can anyone confirm this

No, they don't work well with dual coil cartos. They are regulated so you don't burn out cartos trying to vape a 1.5ohm at 6 volts. They work great with 2.5ohm and 3.0ohm single coil. Save the DCs for something else. You won't miss them. The deal at Apollo is unbeatable but the coupon code expires after 3/25. The stainless model is worth waiting for and very well could be shipped before their published date. According to a rep, they're on the way to Apollo right now.

I only wish I hadn't just bought one last month, or I'd be all over that deal.

Here's a tip. If you get this deal, get a spare battery from Orbtronic.com The Panasonic CGR18650CH is a whopping 2250mah, costs just $10 shipped and and knocks the socks off even the AW 18650 IMR.

I'm not saying this is a bad idea but, just be aware. When you place a pre-order, it's usually for something that when it arrives is already sold out. What that means is that if you do happen to have a problem the seller can't just swap it out from stock. It might take some time before you get the problem resolved.

That's true, but most decently managed companies will sandbag a bit and hold some units for exchanges of defective units. This was supposed to be a limited production run of 500, so if some are defective they couldn't replace them anyway. Apollo would be crazy to sell 500 if only 500 were ever going to be shipped to them. I'm pretty sure they're not so stupid that they'd only have 500 shipped. There's always a defect rate and I can't imagine they wouldn't prepare for it. The other thing they could do is call them sold out before they've actually sold all 500 of them. Thinking about it, that's probably what they'll do.

I have looked into a bunch of variable voltage mods and im needing help finding one. i have looked at the mad vapes metered vv box mod and the lava tube. i'm looking to spend from 40 to 70 dollars because cash is kinda tight right now. Does anyone have any suggestions on a mod for about that amount of money that is worth it?

Madvapes box mod is okay but I got it so hot I stuck the door to all the silicone inside it. Like to have never got it off. So that one's a no-go for me. As for the LT, get a real VV device. The LT is okay but not what I would call a "true" vv device.

For the money, maximumvapors.com has the Woodie VV box mod. Very nice and comfortable. Todd stands behind his work and will answer all your questions.

Take a look at the VariCool vv box:

SmokTek "SmokBox VariCool" - Custom variable volt Box Mod - Efficient switching regulator! adjustable 3,4,5,6.5 volt's & everything between.

I've been using it for several weeks now and I love it. Doesn't have the bells and whistles of digital displays. But it doesn't have the built-in limitations of the LT or GS-SUB either. I've used LR, HR, dual coils, voltage anywhere I want - zero problems. I was concerned about the lack of a display but you really don't need the digital display to find the voltage you want. Lack of a display hasn't posed a problem or limitation at all.

And like hairball said about the cheaper MadVapes version, the VariCool does not get hot because of the better regulator used in it. And I'm getting 24 hour run times on a set of 14500 batteries in this puppy. Couldn't be happier with that. Another attribute of the better regulator.

If I'm right, the code to get 5% off at Smok-Tek is ECF5. You will have to add batteries and a charger onto the base price, but IMO it's one of the best vv values out there. It doesn't work with built in limitations. It just works.

I would recommand the LT for you and i do not understand why others don't want to call it a real VV?
The LT is very reasonable, you can have it normal and mini, it works well with every atty or carto i ever tried out.
For sure there are other good products on the market, but at the moment the LT will be the best deal for a beginner.

I don't understand why the "LT" would be considered "not a true VV device". Please explain.

Anyways, here is another place for VV box mods.

Variable Volt Mods

If I set a mod at, lets say 6V, I expect it to stay at 6V no matter what type of hardware I have on it. With the LT, if you put a 3ohm Boge on it and set the device at 6V, it will auto adjust the voltage down to where it "thinks" it should safely run at. It does it to protect the carto/atty that you have on it. Sorry but I want a device that vapes where I set it, not where it "thinks" it should be set. I'm not totally knocking them. For an inexpensive device for someone wanting to venture into variable voltage, they are an okay mod. On the other hand, a vv box mod does better in performance IMO.
