Need help finding good quality RBA building information/tutorials

Hey everyone! New to the forum. Been vaping for a little over a year now, started with an eGo Twist/Protank 2, then to a Sigelei Mini Z-Max/ Aspire BDC, then to an iTaste VTR/iClear 30 (that was a waste of money) and just recently moved to an eLeaf iStick/Tobeco tobh clone.

I got my first dripper one week ago and the nice guys at the local vapor store built my tobeco with 28 gauge wire and rayon and got it right at 1ohms. Since then I've purchased wire, rayon and a little box that you use to make coils. I'm really new to this so I'd like to know if there are any recommended tutorials on how to build coils and wick them. The first time I tried to rewick the coils, I ended up breaking a coil because I used too much rayon and had to go back to the vapor store where they built me another setup. I learned really quick that this isn't very simple and it's easy to tweak a wire and ruin everything.

I wanna learn how to do this myself, but there are so many videos on youtube that I don't wanna waste my time with the garbage. Also, just out of curiousity, aside from videos, where did you guys learn how to build your RBAs?

Thanks in advamce,
Frankie

Did you buy n ohm meter?

Not yet, only because the iStick has one in it.

Have you read up on battery safety, ohm's law, amp draw, etc? Have you purchased an ohm read to measure your builds?

No, I haven't read up on much of that. Every time I've tried to read up on it in the past it felt like I was reading Japanese. A lot of the technical stuff didn't make sense to me at all. Let me state that I'm not trying to sub ohm any time soon. The guys at the local vapor store have told me that if you're not careful you could blow your battery up. As of right now I just want to learn how to build a basic dual-coil that hovers at or above 1ohm like the one I have now.

Sine you are using your RDA/RTA on a regulated devise that cannot fire a coil below 1.0ohm I will not post all my links on battery safety, ohms law, etc. However, if that changes, make sure you do get all this information and understand it before proceeding. Baditude (one of our resident battery experts) is the go-to guy for this. Baditudes Blogs.

Here is a video on a simple microcoil build. How to build a Micro Coil. Depending on which RDA/RTA you have there may be other videos which will give you more specific information regarding building & wicking yours.

Here are a few links for you regarding building coils and getting the resistance just where you want it:
1. Steam Engine
2. Coil Toy Calculator
