When it came to cigarettes, I've always been a light smoker 4 - 5 cigs per day, and I always smoked the light or extra-light stuff. They never made me cough or gave me a tickle in the back of my throat.

I'm new to vaping, and I'm currently smoking a 70/30 PG/VG 24mg nic vanilla, and holy jesus, this thing is heavy on my chest, and smoking it at 3.8v on a lavatube with direct dripping gives me this harsh hot scratchy burning sensation in the back of my throat that makes me want to quit vaping altogether and stick to my old ways. I drip regularly to keep the atty wet, so what am I doing wrong?

Can someone please prescribe an ejuice that I can use that produces a lot of vapor but is smooth? Do I need to stick to 100% VG? or perhaps 100% PG? I'm aslo guessing an 8mg nic juice would help over this 24mg insanity. I want to be able to take nice long drags without burning the crap out of my throat. Is this even possible?

At this point, I'd rather smoke analogs, they seems a lot safer.

harsh hot scratchy burning sensation - Do you get any flavor at the same time? Almost sounds like dry atty, too much power, right now. Could be the juice too, some flavors are delicate. My Watermelon goes south(nasty) on longer drags.

I do get flavor. Perhaps this harsh hot scratchy burning sensation is what people on here refer to as the Throat Hit. I can tell you that it is not a pleasant sensation. The juice is a Vanilla Blend. I doubt that it's because of a dry atty, because I'm dripping to the point where juice is leaking everywhere.

Nic or PG sensitivity are both possible, VG sensitivity I would expect less likely.

A simple check to see if you're OK with VG would be to buy a small bottle of Glycerin USP at a pharmacy. Put some in a small bottle, add about 10% plain water (preferably distilled, from a grocery store), see if that vapes OK (if a bit boring).

(There are multiple threads in the Canada forum area mentioning where people get VG/glycerin.)

If it is OK, you could try cutting your 24 mg/ml eliquid with some of the VG (don't bother adding water to your eliquid, just a bit of the VG.). It would decrease flavor and nic a bit, as well as up the VG% compared to PG.

Be careful with the vanilla extract, I'm not a DIY genius but I seem to remember reading that some of the ones from the grocery store are oil based which can kill your atty

Crap! Not sure how to check if it's oil based. The Vanilla Extract + VG tastes like absolute sheit, but at least it doesn't kill my throat like the 24mg nic PG juice. I don't get why PG is added anyway, it doesn't produce a whole lot of vapor, and it doesn't add to the flavor.

My mission now is to find a good 100% VG e-juice supplier. I emailed mapleleafvapes this morning, but no one replied.

Good catch. I use vanilla from perfumersapprentice or NaturesFlavors (from their Organic Coffee flavoring line). I'm not sure what is available in Canada that is good to use, though either naturesflavors or perfumersapprentice flavorings should be easy to buy (they are not ecigarette companies, but rather flavoring companies, so there should be no import issues -- just food flavorinigs)

Have you tried just adding VG to your 24mg eliquid? About one part VG to 2 parts eliquid (10ml to 20 ml) will result in 30 ml of 16mg/ml eliquid, and the PG % would be reduced from 70% to 47%. You'll lose some flavor, of course, but just swinging the PG% and nic mg/ml down might get you to something useable short term.

Yeah, just by eyeballing, I added 1/3 VG .. vaping it at 3.5v works ok for me, but any higher and the TH is unbearable.
