Hello,

I'm brand new to e-cigarettes. After a trip to San Diego in which I tried my first puff off a PV I knew I wanted to give up analogs. After weeks of reading threads off this site I decided to purchase the 510 kit from cignot.com.

I'm super excited that I just got my kit in the mail. After reading the manual that came with it I'm a bit confused. I want to make sure I don't screw up my PV experience by not properly cleaning out the atomizer. The directions suggest breaking in the atomizer by dripping some liquid directly onto it. I have a number of questions:

1. Should I stick to 1 flavor of liquid per blank cartirdge? I'm worried that I may taint the flavor if I decide to switch do a different flavor... If you can use the same blank cartridge, what is the best way to clean out the cartridge and atomizer so I don't screw up the taste?

2. What is the best technique to clean the primer of the new atomizer(s)?

3. If I decide to use one of the freebie pre-filled cartridges will I screw up the taste if I drip a different flavored liquid on the atomizer to clean it?

Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated. I want to make sure I'm setting myself up for the best possible vaping experience.

Thank you all,

Brian

it is pretty confusing reading some of the forum as there are a lot of conflicting views about what you should do to clean this and mod that and drip this and...(it goes on!)

i read through the sticky guide threads in the ECF library part of the forum that i found really helpful (apologies- cant post links yet) and viewed a LOT of videos on youtube. (e cig into the search engine) ritalee was really helpful as was moobyghost (think i got that one right)

as for the first time on your atty, blow it out first onto tissue (from the end that goes on the battery) to get rid of the primer which is icky tasting. then a couple of drips directly onto the atomiser and drag on it without inhaling. then it is a case of try it ans see what works for you.

some people switch or clean out atomisers between flavours, but i have been really lazy and made do with the overlap taste i get till it all comes through. this doesnt work so well with menthol though- that taste clings for a while!

there is also a post somewhere about how to draw on an e cig and how it is different to the way you draw on an analogue. again though, it is all down to fiddling around with it till you find what works for you.

good luck :)

like Vapour~Girl said, blow the primer out into a tissue (i usually blow from both ends but do the battery connection end first) & then connect to the battery, prime it, sip on it a few times (like a milkshake through a straw, into your mouth but don't inhale) and see if the taste is ok or if you need to clean it some more
after that i just blow mine out every week or if switching flavors (unless they're close like mint & thin mints)
you could also dedicate attys, 1 for tobacco flavors, 1 for fruity, 1 for candy, etc.

1. If you are using carts then yes - just use the one flavor per cart unless you are experimenting iwth mixing :)
2. Unscrew atty - hold battery thread end in paper towel - cover entire cart end (cart is not attached) with mouth and blow blow blow. Wipe threads. Reverse process (blow from thread end, with cart end in paper towel).
3. With carts its easier to remove filler, wash in water, squeeze gently and air dry on paper towel. Then refill cart with liquid, squish filler back in after having first fluffed it up a bit - you may also want to trim with scissors if you need to. Drip some drops of juice ontop of filler if the top is dry. Too much juice? Just blot with paper towel.

4. My personal preference is to dispense entirely with filler and using empty cart as a mouth piece just drip a couple of drops directly onto atty bridge. I find - for ME - this gives a stronger flavor but YMMV. DO what feels easiest to begin with :)

CaptJay - WOW! Dripping tastes so much better, and produces tons more vapor!! I just hate having to constantly open up the atty to drip. Do you use any special accessories to drip? I've read about some dripping equipment in another thread but I can't find it now.

Thanks...

A simple hot water rinse will clean out the cart and the filler. Just make sure to dry the filler on a paper towel before using it. Just make a paper towel and filler sandwich, filler being the meat in the sandwich and the paper towel the bread. Squeeze the sandwich until there isn't any more water in the filler.
2. What is the best technique to clean the primer of the new atomizer(s)?
You can either blow the primer out which is the faster method, or you can run your atty through hot water, blow it out and drop it into some rubbing or isopropyl alcohol for a few minutes to an hour. Let it dry and viola! No more nasty primer.
3. If I decide to use one of the freebie pre-filled cartridges will I screw up the taste if I drip a different flavored liquid on the atomizer to clean it?
I'm a dripper and switch flavors all day long. You'll only barely taste the old flavor for the first couple of pulls, then only the new one. That is unless you're using some ridiculously strong flavored liquid like menthols or cinnamon types.
Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated. I want to make sure I'm setting myself up for the best possible vaping experience.
Good choice in the 510 kit from cignot. That's an awesome entry PV into the world of e-cigs and I'm sure once you get the hang of everything you'll absolutely love it. Welcome to the forum!
Thank you all,

Brian
